Summary:

The Federal Communications Commission has alerted the Walt Disney Company and its ABC unit that it will begin an investigation into the diversity, equity and inclusion efforts at the media giant.

The FCC, the agency that regulates the media and telecommunications industry, said in a letter dated Friday that it wants to “ensure that Disney and ABC have not been violating FCC equal employment opportunity regulations by promoting invidious forms of DEI discrimination.”

“We are reviewing the Federal Communications Commission’s letter, and we look forward to engaging with the commission to answer its questions,” a Disney spokesperson told CNBC.

FCC Chairman Brendan Carr, who was recently appointed by President Donald Trump, began a similar investigation into Comcast and NBCUniversal in early February. The inquiry comes after Trump signed an executive order looking to end DEI practices at U.S. corporations in January. The order calls for each federal agency to “identify up to nine potential civil compliance investigations” among publicly traded companies, as well as nonprofits and other institutions.

We want to include everyone!

That’s discrimination!

What a stupid fucking country

Diverse films are discrimination against racists

out here going after the fucking most conservative media company outside of fox for not being conservative enough. god, they're just so fucking petty

It's actually not that surprising. Before they go to war, they wanna see who will resist, and who will bend a knee.

i know that's what the core of the party is up to, but what the fuck is the deal with the base? how are 75m people like "it's SUPER important to me that disney be more conservative"

I think the issue, which does affect both sides, is that once the election was over, they just stop paying attention if "their" side won.

The qons were furiously wishing for this kind of thing FOREVER. I remember the crazy xtians and their anti-Disney campaigns ever since the 80s, along with their unhinged conspiracy theories about how they are pushing TEH DEBIL onto The Children (TM).

Then the things like woke Disney Star Wars projects and Snow White and I'm sure their rage boner is never-ending for Disney....turns out the market was already punishing Disney for turning out shit anyway, but does that satisfy the qons? Hell no.

I won't be surprised if they don't put together a Ministry of Entertainment that will approve all large media projects. Dog forbid the free market actually decide on such things - you can see the start of this by donvict heading up the Kennedy Theater...

Violating equal opportunity by investigating DEI initiatives which support equal opportunity.

This is shove-your-head-up-your-ass mental gymnastics.

Ya this is pretty much it lol

ABC already settled one lawsuit from Trump since the election, maybe this will teach them settling won't stop the harassment.

Sounds pretty "big government"y from the party that's supposed to be small government

[–] [email protected] 6 points 6 days ago

....they never meant it.

[–] [email protected] 12 points 6 days ago

Gotta make sure those poor white males aren't suffering. They have everything going against them after all.

Uh, is DEI illegal or something?

BTW, I've been saying for decades (along with many others, I realize) that the qons do not and have never given a damn about "political correctness" or free speech. They bitched and whined for the past decade about "cancel culture" and they never fucking meant that, either.

They hate actual free speech. They love the real political correctness - the real kind, the 1950s-style political correctness. They want gays back in the closet, they want their Jehovah/Allah/Yahweh little book club taught in our public schools and they want those schools segregated. They want everyone to be forced to praise the character of Jesus, while atheists and non-xtians are forced to be on the periphery of culture. They LOOOOOOOOOVE cancel culture - write an op-ed they don't like and they will cheer when donvict's secret police disappear you.

Lastly, they want and demand that Hollywood enforce and praise all of their bullshit. They hate that Hollywood doesn't constantly suck their dicks, and sometimes actually mocks them and their ilk. They cannot brook any dissent whatsoever.

Republicans are the worst people. If you know one, maybe punch them in the neck.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 6 days ago

I was wondering when the Trump administration would begin fucking with my pop-culture
