Yeah because lactose intolerance is not an allergy. People with a milk allergy can also get anaphylaxis

What, you mean having diarrhea or gas isn't the same as having your airway close? Ridiculous.

The last time I drank a glass of milk before bed, I woke up wishing for the release of death, if that counts.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 10 months ago

I'll allow it.

I'm lactose intolerant and I have a dairy allergy. Good times!

[–] [email protected] 16 points 10 months ago (3 children)

I can imagine it would be hard to maintain lactose tolerance with a dairy allergy.

My kid grew out of his dairy allergy, and now is lactose intolerant. He’s happy as can be that he can have real ice cream, and accepts the consequences, now that they’re not deadly

[–] [email protected] 3 points 10 months ago

Lactose tolerance is the ability to process a particular sugar. Allergies are adverse reactions to specific proteins.

My guess is that most people (from lactose tolerant populations) with dairy allergies are probably lactose tolerant, it's just not useful to them.

I was lactose intolerant first (and still am, probably), but yeah, definitely.

Well i'm allergic to my cat but i don't die, just suffer. So maybe i'm just catose intolerant.

(And yes i still pet her knowing i might have itchy eyes or skin.)

I got lost somewhere in the instruction and my car dissolved?

About two thirds of the world's population is lactose intolerant, on a global (not western) perspective, it's weird to be lactose tolerant.

[–] [email protected] 19 points 10 months ago (1 children)

i read somewhere that your race plays a big factor in if you become lactose intolerant. Pretty sure white people are the least likely to, I guess that's where our obsession with cheese comes from

[–] [email protected] 13 points 10 months ago (2 children)

I think it’s the other way around. Our obsession with cheese has led to the lactose intolerant dying off.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Most cheese does not have lactose in it, only cheap or fresh cheese does.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 10 months ago

my gut would beg to differ. I'm lactose intolerant and if I have too much cheese of any kind my stomach hurts. I can have more of it than I can have milk but the effects are the same if I overindulge in cheese

[–] [email protected] 4 points 10 months ago

hm, you could be right! seeing as one of the most common effects of triggering lactose intolerance is diarrhea which can easily lead to death if you don't have a source of clean water to keep yourself well hydrated

Indeed. Lactose tolerance is a powerful mutation. The rest of us should fear them for their superior genes.

Edit: Queue rocking 90s X-Men cartoon theme song.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 10 months ago

I'm going to queue the gigachad theme because that's how I feel drinking whole milk straight from the jug.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 10 months ago

I used to be lactose tolerant, 500 gallons of milk in my adolescence later I clear a room after a small glass.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 10 months ago

[–] [email protected] 14 points 10 months ago

[–] [email protected] 13 points 10 months ago (1 children)

As an Indigenous Canadian who is lactose intolerant ..... I FART YOUR GENERAL DIRECTION!

[–] [email protected] 12 points 10 months ago

[–] [email protected] 7 points 10 months ago

I'm extremely allergic to dust. DUST! It is everywhere. I feel really bad when people use the term "mouth breathers" because I'm literally a mouth breather. Fuck life, man.
