I got some kind of beef and cheese wrap from a food truck once that was amazing. IDK the name of it though to track them down again. The last time I ate from one I just got a burger and it was pretty shitty.

There’s a food truck in Victoria BC called The Melt Truck, has the best breakfast sandwich I’ve ever had. It’s saved my life more than once. The last time I’ve had food from a truck was in Nanaimo BC, The Poutine Truck (I can’t remember the exact name, that’s what we call it), and it was amazing. They have a bunch of different ones, I think I got the cheeseburger one. They have vegan options for just about all the options too. So good!

Gonna put this on my to-do list!

If it’s the melt truck they are next to the corner of bay and rock bay, behind the card lock. Only Monday to Friday though! I get the original with banana peppers. And the poutine truck is all over Nanaimo, they have a fb page with their schedule. You will not be disappointed!

Damn I was just blocks away last time I was there!

I had an Oliebol last weekend. It’s basically a ball of fried dough (with raisins in my case) covered in powdered sugar.

They’re a Dutch seasonal thing, traditionally eaten on new year’s eve.

I love the BBQ push carts that have sticks of stuff you choose and they cook them right there.

The last one I got was chicken hearts on a skewer, and liver skewer

Hard to beat tacos from the dirty vendor in an LA parking lot

love a falafel sandwich in NYC. ah, I miss...

The best falafel sandwich I had was in Hebron, they were making it very freshly and it just cost like 30 cents or so.

Meat kebabs from the DR, here in the US.

I got a feeling that a lot of people are going to post things like, "Unless you've had the kentil jabroni on the streets of Naventus, then you've never had street food."

I'm not well traveled, so my favorite is this food truck that serves nachos, but with tater tots. Tatchoes, if you will. Fucking amazing. I like Taco Truck tacos, but they are always so tiny and expensive these days.

Yeah, man, but that kentil jabroni is something else though, right?

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 week ago

I've only been to Naventus on work, so I didn't get the chance.

One of my absolute favourites of all time for street food is 肉夹馍. Had it this Tuesday on the way home from work. A very close second is 煎饼. Last time I had that, though, was over a month ago.

I had these brown sugar pretzels that were really good a couple weeks ago

Venezuelan steak Pepito. My favorite sandwich now hands down.

Had a quesadilla that was fried like a tortilla chip. Holy cow.

Best is a hard tie between a burger from the Bleeker van in London, and pani puri (crunchy pockets filled with curry) from a handcart in Pokhara. Most recently was moo ping (grilled pork skewers) from a stall in Thakek. They weren't very good which made me sad.

There's really only two options I've ever seen here in the US: Hotdogs or tacos.

I love a good taco truck. Though sometimes I wish California had hotdog carts like NYC does. Or if street food was just more common in the country in general. You really only see it during events like faires and the like.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 week ago

They do have hotdog carts. At least in Los Angeles. Bacon wrapped and smothered in fajitas, still my favorite hot dogs in the whole world.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 week ago

oh. I thought you meant food from less than licensed vendors so the only thing I ever got was street tamales. which are cheap and delicious.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 week ago

I bought some tamales from a guy selling them out of his trunk

There's simply none near here, so maybe like, twenty years ago when I visited nyc. I liked roasted chestnuts, those were nice.

Do hotdogs at baseball games count? Then maybe a decade ago instead.
