Rules:

  1. Post only links to articles, Title must fairly describe link contents. If your title differs from the site’s, it should only be to add context or be more descriptive. Do not post entire articles in the body or in the comments.

Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.

Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
  3. No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
  4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
  5. No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning

We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.

All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

That's all the rules!

“I’d like to give you a little bit of advice around the media…My strong advice and request to everybody is just don't engage with the media. If you're approached, I would recommend not responding and, if necessary, simply refer them to our own media organization.”

They're spiraling, they dont know how to do damage control and are afraid this will spawn copycats. It should. If you want to be a dragon, dont complain when knights show up to slay you.

I have a feeling that this might be pushing any new shooters to start going after the rich. They end up being treated like hero's and their names stick around. After all most just wanted the recognition.

Better CEOs than the school children it’s been thus far.

Ugh fuck.. if we see the same demographic shift, and those numbers finally stopping, are we supposed to celebrate this? Wtf are y'all teaching your kids about this? I teach mine that in spite of daddy's successful career in capitalism, the wealthy are a whole other thing who want to take our shit, beat us down, and virtually enslave us, and one day the masses may get angry and eat the rich. I also teach violence is absolutely never okay except to survive or protect, and we never start fights but we always make sure to end them. So now it's happening... Wtf do I say to him? I'm honestly asking for advice.. clearly from my comment history today, I'm finally reading the social media here and processing...

[–] [email protected] 12 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Well... I think it's reached the point where this is violence to survive and protect.

One can only hope

I’ve never in my entire life wanted something more than to see copycats going after the C-Suite of places that put profits over people, especially when they’re running a company that should not exist. Because then maybe… politicians will finally get some meaningful reforms. Because they sure as hell don’t care about dead kids. Thoughts and prayers!!!

That’s actually how it’s supposed to work. You don’t talk and you refer question askers to PR, HR, and lawyers. I’ve always been instructed this for any organization I worked for.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Work in a lot of places with bad PR huh?

I worked in preclinical drug development and then another was marketing for child care. It was kind of the norm for everything, not just crisis.

I don't remember the story well enough, but we may have to re-write the story of Sir Gawain and the Black Knight after this.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Wait I thought it was Gawain and the Green Knight, or is Gawain just an unlucky bastard.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

I thought Gawain had to deal with both, like I said, I haven't read those stories in decades

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 weeks ago

Same havent read anything Arthurian that wasnt trying to figure out what its based off of historically in years. I just know Gawain fought the Green Knight because its one of my favorite stories from the Arthurian mythos, also the Green knight is a pretty good legendary hero in Total Warhammer.

Andrew Witty btw. That's the new United Health CEO. I expect good things to come from him very soon.

Edit: as mentioned below, he's CEO of the parent company, not the replacement CEO

[–] [email protected] 55 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

He's been the CEO of UnitedHealth Group for 3 years now. UnitedHealth Care is a subsidiary, their CEO was the one shot. Best I can tell they haven't announced a replacement yet.

[–] [email protected] 34 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

I know the org intimately. This this exactly correct. Most of their business is B2B. UHC is actually a fairly small slice of the pie. They have literally dozens of CEOs. The one killed is the CEO of the healthcare insurance entity.

[–] [email protected] 13 points 2 weeks ago

So there’s more work to do, eh?

[–] [email protected] 8 points 2 weeks ago

This is false

[–] [email protected] 49 points 2 weeks ago

Waahhhh can't you let us profit off of ruining people's lives in peace!

[–] [email protected] 36 points 2 weeks ago

Aww poor you

[–] [email protected] 34 points 2 weeks ago

"can't we just destroy lives in peace!?"

[–] [email protected] 33 points 2 weeks ago

Boo-hoo, there are average people's lives who get disturbed when they're plastered all over the media and you profit off of that at every chance. Same should happen to you.

[–] [email protected] 21 points 2 weeks ago

Yeah just tell your employees to turn their back to people. Solid advice!

[–] [email protected] 20 points 2 weeks ago

Waaaaaah! Why is everyone picking on us?

[–] [email protected] 19 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

If I was this dude, I would have quietly resigned two days ago, and moved into my bunker.

[–] [email protected] 9 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

You dont rise to that dude's position without being a greedy asshole that risks everything to get as much money as possible.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

I don't know why anyone would want to become Chief Executable Officer.
