I like it but it's missing Avery Brooks saying "Because I can live with it. I can live with it" right before erasing the log. Absolutely amazing delivery, and a shame to leave it out.

One of the things I enjoyed about DS9 was that it wasn't afraid to show that you cannot always play by the rules during a war against a people who want to literally wipe you and trillions of others out. You cannot be reasonable or honorable when it comes to fascist, because they certainly aren't.

Sisko is complicated. He engaged in war crimes to capture Eddington and engaged in some heavy espionage to get the Romulans in the Dominion War. Yet, Sisko is also probably the reason why Earth didn't have a fascist coup and always acted in the best interests of Bajor even if it was against the Federation.

I don't think any other star trek captain's actor could have played this role.

The way his conviction wavers as he says it also shows that he's trying to convince himself and justify his actions to himself more than anything else. It's not that he can live with it, it's that he has to live with it.

Yeah. The repeating of "I can live with it" isn't for him to try to convince us or the future, but himself.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 10 months ago

Haha, first thing I said as well

I can live with it!

I'm not saying I didn't masturbate thinking about Clarissa when I was a teenager in the 90s, but I didn't not masturbate thinking about Clarissa when I was a teenager in the 90s.

Too bad she's a nutcase.

You could have easily not posted this.

[–] [email protected] 24 points 10 months ago

Sorry, should I have been more explicit?

In that case, I definitely masturbated while thinking about Clarissa when I was a teenager in the 90s.

[–] [email protected] 10 points 10 months ago

Yeah, but it's reassuring that we're not alone

[–] [email protected] 12 points 10 months ago (1 children)

I'm unfamiliar with her nutcasity, can you elucidate?

She's a right-wing evangelical. This will tell you all about it:

What's funny is she used to be very open about her sex life and even said she would be willing to pose topless for Playboy, so I'm not quite sure when this happened.

Ugh, damn religion ruining our Playboys.

Also, you shouldn't directly link to that site and give them revenue because it's another one of those religious nut "media biblical rating" websites. Use something like archive.is to grab an archive once (if they don't already have it) and post that link

[–] [email protected] 4 points 10 months ago (1 children)

I wasn't aware of what the site is about, but archive.is does not seem to be working with it. At least not on my end.

Thanks. Editing my original comment.

I recently learned this myself; very disappointing.

One of the best Trek episodes of all time. I especially loved Andrew Robinson's performance as Garak gleefully gets Sisko to cross moral lines to accomplish his goals and rubs the hypocrisy of it all in his face.

"For you, the day Elim Garak graced your ready room was the most important day of your war. But for me, it was a Tuesday."
