The Kremlin has accused Joe Biden’s outgoing US administration of wanting to escalate the conflict in Ukraine by allowing Kyiv to use long-range missiles for strikes inside Russia, vowing an “appropriate and palpable” response.

The decision, first reported on Sunday, to allow Ukraine to conduct strikes with US-made weapons deep into sovereign Russian territory has not been formally announced by the White House, but a German government spokesperson said on Monday that Berlin had been informed.

. . .

Russia’s foreign ministry said in a statement that the use of long-range US-supplied missiles against its territory would “represent the direct involvement of the United States and its satellites in hostilities against Russia.” It added: “Russia’s response in such a case will be appropriate and palpable.”

I'm pretty sure Russia is fueling the war by refusing to stop attacking Ukraine. Perhaps they can GTFO if they're so concerned?

If he’s so upset about the war he can just order his troops to come home. Bam, war is over.

Well...yea...Ukraine has 60 days or so to win this conflict or be erased from history.

Putin only has to hang in there for 2 months. Surely the very first thing his compliant little asset will do when he sits down in the Oval Office will be to rescind the use of US weapons oin Russian territory. Then Vlad can continue his needless destruction of Ukraine unimpeded.

Doesn't matter, though. The US's leverage in restricting weapons is the relationship with Ukraine and continued supply of aid. With Trump in office, both are nonexistent; there's little reason for Ukraine to comply with any US restrictions going forward from that point.

I hope France and the UK will announce their allowance of SCALP & Storm Shadows deep strikes with a bang instead of a press release...

Fantastic news though 💓!

Meanwhile the German chancellor had his position of not delivering long ranging weapons to Ukraine reconfirmed in a press conference today. The strikes on Ukraines energy grid came shortly after Scholz had a phone call with Putin and Zelensky criticised it. Oh and during the weekend Scholz also reasserted sending more weapons to Israel. German politics is already preparing for their new American lord Trump, after Biden leaves officed.

Yes, I hear that’s how one fights fire. (With fire)

That dipshit Putin is standing in the fire, so of course we're gonna throw fuel on it. If nothing else, I'm happy to see the world making this invasion of Ukraine as costly as possible for the Russians who started it.
