Why Trump’s Deportations Will Drive Up Your Grocery Bill

Common sense.

How will voters react?

Late.

Wait until the same bunch find out what the weird assholes behind Project 2025 plan for their retirement.

Give it to the multi-billionaires?

[–] [email protected] 9 points 3 days ago

Throw them in a pit. Same with handicapped people. Can't work = no right to live.

Sure. Still means that a ton of Americans were trying to figure out what it meant the day after the election. Which is a day later than they needed to.

When you interview people about why they voted for him, they overwhelmingly talk about the economy.

IMHO, people should be yelling at him about every single thing he does that isn’t directly increasing take home pay and lowering cost of living.

They won't. They will be drowning in misinformation and won't know what the fuck is going on.

Or shooting themselves because those bills keep piling up.

Should but thanks to Democrats sucking at messaging and Republicans being the masters at it, people will be blaming Democrats for everything.

If only those obstructionists would stop obstructing and give me all the power 💪

I’m just waiting for Ted Cruz to shut down the government because Trump is spending too much… ☠️

Going into debt is totally fine with the GOP as long as it’s going into debt to make the rich richer.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 3 days ago

Trump could ask for a and be given a quintillion dollars and they still wouldn't make a fuss when the debt ceiling comes up.

Oh look NOW the media is asking questions they should have been asking months ago. If you have any kind of subscription to billionaire newspapers now is the time to give this money to local independent journalism.

You are right about people not caring, but he way it was presented mattered too. None of those were "front page above the fold" news, you'd have to dig down into the opinion section to find it.

NYT engaged in some of the most egregious sanewashing of Trump initiatives during his campaign and I will forever remember that.

America is addicted to its cheap disposable and abusable workforce.

It's always: the reason you can't afford shit is because the people being exploited harder than you will now be exploited a little less.

It's never: the reason you can't afford shit is because the people exploiting you are exploiting the everliving fuck out of you.

They also plan to kick away the safeguards around chicken processing so while that price might come down (also hard to say, since undocumented also make up a chunk of that workforce), the chances of it having salmonella are probably going to go up.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Lol salmonella.

Naw, they'll kick away what few safeguards there are, and then entire flocks will die of bird flu, driving prices even further up.

And then we'll get mass human-human transmission

[–] [email protected] 1 points 2 days ago

That's fine! Meain Fuhrer is well trained in fucking up global pandemic responses don't worry about it !

[–] [email protected] 3 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago) (1 children)

We've given up on chicken having salmonella in this country for some time already.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 3 days ago

Some percent of chicken already does, for sure. I'm saying that percentage is going to go up, probably a lot. Iirc chicken packages have a processor number printed on them, and you can look up statistics on how many times salmonella was found there.

Here we go

Personally, as a fan of pistachios, I'm fully expecting global shortages midway into 2025.

If Republicans were really for the working class they wouldn't need it spelled out for them. The billionaires they simp love paying migrants below minimum wage and thraten to deport them for quick and easy profits from workers that cant refuse and cant go to the cops. Its a labor and power move no one cares about until we pull another underage Guatamalan migrat carcass out from the bandsaws in meat processing plants.
