It also helps that Neill Blomkamp is a great visual director. Even his other films that weren’t well received as well as his short films with Oat Studios have fantastic visuals. Meanwhile, big studio blockbusters spend many times more and the CGI is terrible.

So many “what could have been” moments with Blomkamp. He was going to make the Halo movie, Alien 5 that would've been a direct sequel to Aliens, and he was also going to reboot Robocop.
I am still bitter there was no sequel
Please no.
Movies and shows need to be fine with finishing.
100 percent on that
It didn't need one - the story wrapped up nicely
Maybe he meant years from his home planet... But how shitty sequels tend to be lately, maybe its for the best.
Lately?
I'd rather film studios gave him cash to make new, original films.
One of the few movies I'd like to buy a blu ray of! A sequel is planned but was paused, i have no idea of its current status
Yes exactly - they teased a sequel at the time but it came to nothing .
I accept that it’s probably stronger as a standalone statement, but movies like that don’t come around very often.
