In a storyline better befitting a melodrama than a popularity vote, Grazer won her second Fat Bear Contest Tuesday by defeating the male behemoth that killed her cub this summer.

Grazer beat Chunk by more than 40,000 votes cast by fans watching live cameras of Alaska's Katmai National Park and Preserve.

Oh motherfucker. Had I known, I would've picked Grazer to win instead of Chunk on my bracket even though Chunk is objectively massive.

Great story. I try not to apply human emotions to animals, but damn looks like bears at least are perfectly capable of holding on to a grudge.

Good for the mama bear

The mama bear didn’t kill the bear that killed her cub. The mama bear won the contest. The headline is terribly worded.

But I'm pretty sure a bear was killed around the contest right? I swear my wife watched some tiktoks or whatever about the fat bear contest being postponed because one of the contestants mauled another one on camera and killed it.

The day before the competition was to begin a sow, 402, was killed by a boar, 469, orphaning her 1.5 year old cub. 32 Chunk stole 402's remains from 469.

Good gods. Is this some dystopian soap opera?

Nah. It's just bears.

Damn, bear life seems tough.
