Yeah, many have said it's not depicting Saturn or his son at all and that it's not a male he's eating. Only the artist knew for sure.
Fun fact, this painting "Saturn Devouring his Sons" was found on the wall in the home of Francisco Goya but was never actually titled until after Goya's death. It likely had nothing to do with Saturn.
This painting was in the dining room, so during eating he watched this painting. I guess it has so clear eyes so he could maintain eye contact while drinking his morning coffee.
All walls of the house were covered with similar depressing and disturbing murals, they are called the 14 Black Paintings.
