We all have hundreds of games that are $0, it's called "all the games in your steam account you already own that you haven't played yet".

Yeah, but we already know what those are. These games that we didn't buy yet are new to us and, therefore, shiny.
Gotta collect ‘em all!
As a fellow Steam user/gamer, I'm in this picture and I do not like it whatsoever
But that's way too many choices, it stresses me out.
Am I weird for not having a backlog? I have games I haven't played much of, usually because it didn't click with me, but can't thing any that I have never played.
I have almost 1000 games. There are certainly genres I own but don't want to even install. The games that I haven't played are those I don't want to play but somehow ended up owning. Probably through bundle deals.
The bundles might be the thing. I rarely buy them, so don't end up with games I know I won't like. No shame, btw, I was just curious.
Wandersong is $7 USD right now and it's a real gem if you like more casual games. It's a 2D adventure game where you interact with the world by singing. It's cozy and heartwarming, and I'd recommend it to anybody who might be into that kind of experience.
Also Prey is the opposite of heartwarming but it's one of my all time favorite games (easily top 5) and it's somehow $3 right now.
Same goes for the whole Dishonored series.
So erm... I read your paragraph on Wondersong and thought, "that sounds amazing, I must get". Go to the game page "this game is already in your library"...... Fine fine, I'll get on with my backlog.
I love seeing recommendations for Wandersong. It's a completely different type of adventure game with a unique, and lovely, plot.
Might finally pick up Risk of Rain 2...
Recommend you do, it's a pretty great game. And if mods are your jam, there's a ton of them that add a lot of content to the game.
Meh. I'm seeing a lot of prices that aren't even that close to historical lows. e.g. Mass Effect Legendary was $10 somewhere recently but now it's $12 on Steam (though I'm not giving EA any money for it until they fix the stupid launcher for good on Steam Deck).
Prototype is like $4 though, might snag that if I don't already own a copy elsewhere.
palpatine voice do it.
Prototype is among the most fun open world games to just screw around in. Right up there with Marvel’s Spider-man and Just Cause 3
One of the worst protagonists in all of video games, but it is also a lot of fun.
Some others:
- Cloudbuilt, currently $6.99, lowest $2.99
- Dead Cells, currently $ 14.99, lowest $11.99
- Tropico 5 Complete, currently $23.81, lowest $9.99
- XCOM 2 Collection, currently $11.88, lowest $6.99
Steam reviews for prototype aren't very positive
Chants of Sennaar is on sale. Found out about it here.
I suspect there's a limited target demographic, but I was a linguistics major for a time.
Just picked up Kenshi.. becasue I'm a masochist.
Not exactly hidden gems, but I finally bought Stray. Also decided to pick up Xenonauts. I can't decide whether I should grab Phoenix Point though. I keep eyeing up Terra Invicta too, but I'm almost positive it's going to be a bit too much micromanagement for me to enjoy it.
I got besiege for 5$CAD, had been waiting for a sale to finally buy it
I snagged a bunch of Williams pinball tables already. Very excited to be able to play No Good Gophers in the comfort of my own home.
May also finally pull the trigger on Cyberpunk now.
FWIW I can't speak to the pre-2.0 update but I'm having a lot of fun with Cyberpunk 2077. Solid AAA game, and it seems like they hammered out a lot of the performance issues from earlier in its life.
Got:
Halo: master collection for €10 Broforce €3 Prey €3
Not a hidden gem but whenever it's on sale I personally recommend: Enter the Gungeon!
A rogue-lite/like? Game that has puns for everything gun and bullet related.
See if you can survive the Gungeon and kill your past!
"Kill your past, you already damned your future!"
Enter the Gungeon is amazing. I just played through Hades, and while it's a great game, Enter the Gungeon is still my favorite roguelite.
Disco Elysium is a good one but I know I don't have the time right now.
Maybe I get me another Metroidvania.
I have Blasphemous (which I think was already on sale), Bloodstained RotN or Sundered EE on my wishlist, but again I would probably just make the pile of shame grow.
Haiku, the Robot is a very fun metroidvania that you can blast through in under 10 hours if you want something in that genre, but also something short and sweet that wont consume two weeks of your life.
I envy you for not having played Disco Elysium yet. Hope you find the time soon :)
Unfortunately not at all. I was excited for Persona 5 Royal and was prepared to purchase it again (got it on PS5). Wanted to play it with a Trainer for fun.
However the discount is meh for an rebuy, it’s like €35(?). Was more hoping for €15-20.
I'm waiting for them to remove Denuvo DRM before I buy. I'd love to play it on PC with higher resolution (and hopefully framerates) but that DRM is a dealbreaker for me, unfortunately.
If they remove Denuvo, I won’t buy it very honestly. The community I’m in should say enough hah.
But yeah, you’re right. Best thing even for legit players is Denuvo being removed.
P5R is mildly tempting even though I also own it for PS4. I think I will pass on it until it goes under $20. I also want to hang onto my gaming cash in case Persona 3 Reloaded ends up being legitimately good.
I’m very curious as well about Persona 3 Reload! I’ll wait a few months after it is out to see the reviews and overall game.
I see darkest dungeon 2 is on sale. I remember being excited to play it on release before seeing it was an exclusive, so I might pick it up on sale now.
I'm debating whether to get "Total War: Warhammer" (just part 1) and/or "V rising". They both appeal to me but I'm a frugal/patient gamer and the deals don't appear to be that special
TW:Warhammer 1 has the added bonus that if you like TW:W games and in a few years buy the second Warhammer you can 'merge' the campaigns in to a bigger campaign called Mortal Empires. You can play all the factions (and DLCs you own) from both games in that campaign. Same applies to Warhammer 3
Just got 'Metal: Hellsinger' It's pretty fun take on the Doom-like Shooter genre.
Also got 'Dredge'. Very chill, while being a creepy lovecraftian fishing game.
Both games are really good, if a bit short. But for the discounted price, the length of them is just fine.
Thanks for reminding me of Hellsinger! I played the demo but forgot to wishlist it!
Mighty Gunvolt Burst is a great Mega Man-style platformer
Project Highrise was like $3.60
I picked up Bonelab. Going to play it as soon as I'm home from work. I just hope it won't cost me $300 in controllers.
Damn, I just bought it the other day but only put 31 minutes in, hopefully I'll be able to get a refund. That $9 goes a long way on a Steam Sale!
Got a good hour and a half in before my battery died. I spent a bit too long in the arena and now I'm sore.
FlipWitch
surprisingly switch has a better sale than steam for once (at least for my wishlists)
I got one of those new Steam Deck OLEDs today and am thinking about getting some casual games for that (even though I got a ton of stuff in my backlog).
Dave the Diver is currently the forerunner, and maybe Mega Man Battle Network. I might just wait until the Steam Winter Sale though, since the prices won't be worse, and maybe even a tiny bit better.
Huh, didn't even realize it had started.
Taking a look at my wishlist, and seems like I've got enough in my wallet to snag a couple of heavy sale games purely from all the cards I've sold on the marketplace.
May not get anything, though. Got tons of other shit to play and I'm not aching for anything in particular, although Charrua Soccer and Kopanito All-Star Soccer might be options because I want some good old fashioned arcade football and they seem fun enough.
Oh, and Shadow Gambit and Desperados 3, mainly because getting them now is one of the last opportunities to actually have the money go directly to Mimimi (the developers), who are shutting down end of year (which at least was their own choice and not because some publisher/holding company fired them).
Edit: Oh, I might get one of Frogware's Sherlock games. Don't know what the consensus is on the newer ones.
