I'm pretty sure that Trump (most recent Republican president) supports Trump (current Republican candidate).

I'm not a political analyst so I might be wrong

[–] [email protected] 9 points 2 months ago

So why didn't he show up to show support?

[–] [email protected] 7 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Yeah, but she has the support from ALL living Dem presidents. They forgot Jimmy here, he is currently busy defying death to be able to vote for Kamala.

And George W. is heavily silent in this election afaik.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 months ago

W being silent is exactly the reason I will fight against him rehabilitating his image. He's not just a coward and an idiot, he's a bad person.

President Carter’s health is declining, and he’s no longer able to travel, but he’s given Harris a strong endorsement. He’s said to his grandson, “I’m only trying to make it to vote for Kamala Harris.”

Imagine if George Bush also came

He probably did but not in the way you intended

I don't understand this attack. MAGA will just say this is outsider bonifides. And honestly, my ideal candidate would be unpopular with the establishment too.

It's clear that everyone on the progressive side of the political spectrum hates Trump. But even on the conservative side, people in leadership also hate Trump. When it comes to presidents and VPs, Bush has stopped short of talking about Trump but he has spoken against the MAGA movement, and the Cheneys hate Trump. Mike Pence was almost killed by Trump's coup attempt and he spoke against him too. The previous GOP candidates for president were Romney and McCain, and they both hate(d) Trump with a passion.

I think it's at least telling by looking at the presidential tickets that everyone in leadership in the United States of America hates Trump, even within his own party. Anyone at the top level with proven experience on how to run this country, on both sides, hates Trump.

Maybe the MAGAs have no ability to stop and ponder on this. But the independents considering their choices for Nov might. And any conservative that cares about running the country right might consider their choices too. Perhaps not every registered Republican has the stomach to keep putting party over country, and even more so now that the Republican party has been debased to just being for the Trump cabal and circus.

Yes or no, would it be good for Harris if George W Bush endorsed Harris or spoke at the convention?

[–] [email protected] 7 points 2 months ago (1 children)

It would be good though I worry if that might convince DNC officials to start appealing to right wingers again.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 2 months ago

Dems have compromised every step of the way since at least the 80s and got shat all over in return.. Enough's enough. These chum headed, women hating, miserable a-holes will never be happy.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Good; while I don't really like when the DNC features Republicans (like they did in 2020), I still fantasize about enough OG republicans leaving the GOP that it has to finally confront it's problems (like if they lost Texas, lol).

It simply isn't healthy having only one viable party, though, and while I'd prefer many viable third party options, at least having a second party that isn't a complete shit show would be nice.

In order to go back to having two decent parties at this point, I think the Republican party needs to die.

So it really would be good if any remaining Republicans that follow the principle of 'even evil has standards' would openly join the Democrats. Then a couple elections go by as most remaining Republican offices are taken by Democrats, then the Democratic party splits.

Not the best possible outcome, but probably top ten as far as potentially realistic ones goes.

Yes, that's exactly what I think too. I'm not sure if that's going to work either, but all this is wishful thinking anyway. An easier path is probably just rank choice voting but I also don't see Congress doing that (be enough just to do away with electoral college and they can't even do that).
