Cynical response: So they weren't checking before?

More seriously though, I'd be interested in watching a show focused on analyzing fakes and misinformation. But I have a feeling it will be repetitive and watered down to explain tech with bad analogies so your Amish grandma can understand.

You should check out Captain Disillusion on YouTube then. His breakdowns are fascinating to watch.

Thanks. I think I've seen that channel and I recall it was good quality, but those breakdowns were maybe too long and detailed for a no-so-nerdy audience.

Here I should have specified a show by a mainstream outlet like CBS. I want to see this type of analysis brought to a general audience in a concise but useful manner. It's not an easy task but maybe with a dedicated team they can do it.

But not politicians …

The new unit, called “CBS News Confirmed,” will be led by Claudia Milne

Well that is brave.

Is that her? She looks like a hallucination.

I'd trust a hallucinating AI more than I would trust a huge corporate news outlet like CBS.

At best the people who need to see that the facts are, in fact, facts still won't believe it.

Predicting it now, anything the government doesn't agree with will be called a "deepfake".

Naive people who've been sleeping the last few years are down voting you.
