This is expected to hurt him with his base while Republicans call the measure fake news to cover up the 10,000 trans mules Biden ordered from Bolivia to sway the election that they heard from newsOAANmax.

The one remaining independent voter decided on Thursday to sit this one out since: "Man. I don't know what the heck is going on and everytime I pick a side, half the country yells at me."

I remember folks were arguing dems were only playing along with the anti-immigration parts of that bill as a bargaining chip to send aid to ukraine. Then that version of the bill died off.

So they just implement the anti-immigration parts on their own i guess.

Gun control = republican, immigration crackdown = Democrat, WTF is happening?

Obama deported more illegal immigrants than George W Bush and Donald Trump combined. Biden deported more illegals in his first 18 months than Trump did during his entire term.

Democrats being “weak on immigration” is nothing more than a racist dog whistle to stir up GOP voters.

Nobody wants illegal immigrants pouring over the border. That being said, some of us are a lot more understanding about it than others, because there would be a lot fewer people trying to cross if the CIA didn’t spend the last 60 years deliberately destabilizing South American governments. Fortunately, that’s not how most illegals get here. Most of them just overstay their visa after it expires. Which means that most of the time, deporting illegals involved lots of boring paperwork and happens one person at a time. There’s no drama in it, so it doesn’t really make the news like immigrants at the border do.

Democrats understand that simple fact. Republicans don’t.

I want immigrants pouring over the border, cause fuck borders, borders are the illegal part of this whole equation.

[–] [email protected] 9 points 5 months ago

It's crazy that give commerce more rights to travel freely than we give living, breathing humans. Fuck borders.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 5 months ago* (last edited 5 months ago)

Well you’re in luck, because America already lets in more immigrants than any other country on the planet.

If the best in the world isn’t good enough for you, I’m not sure what to tell you.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 5 months ago (1 children)

Do you have an easily digestible source so I can stick this in the face of conservatives with classic talking points?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 5 months ago

The deportation numbers are readily available on Wikipedia and official government websites. I tend to shy away from recommending news articles whenever there is an opportunity to go directly to the data itself. It takes a little more work but you avoid any potential spin or bias.

The reason people cross illegally is we don't let refugees in legally.

The mass of innocent people, provides cover for the less than innocent. And they turn people into mules when they do cross, after charging them for it.

That's not even getting into the rampant organ harvesting that's happening to the people waiting to cross.

And like you said, Dems haven't been doing the right thing for decades now.

How are we better than Republicans if we let this horrible shit happen just because the other team is worse?

Why not just run someone with some fucking empathy?

[–] [email protected] 4 points 5 months ago

Stop spreading false information

The US absolutely accepts refugees as well as migrants. They’re the majority of the people I see at the Roosevelt Hotel in midtown. They’re afforded one year of free housing in a sanctuary city to allow them time to decide if they want to naturalize or move on to another nation.

Why not just run someone with some fucking empathy?

Because, unfortunately, that person will be seen as weak, and lose.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 5 months ago

People seem to forget about Obama cracking down on the border when crossings got high during his term.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 5 months ago

I see his hands aren't tied here.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 5 months ago* (last edited 5 months ago) (1 children)

Immigration is more of a cultural, identity issue than just an economic issue.

Immigration has been a chronic issue in the USA going back centuries eg discrimination against Chinese railroad workers, Irish and Italian immigrants, restrictions on immigration in the mid-1920s, forced deportation of U.S. citizens of Mexican origin in the 1930s, antisemitism and discrimination against Jewish immigrants.

Whites are projected to be less than 50% of the population in a generation and that will make immigration issue even more challenging to solve.

We are currently working under 50 year old laws which are not up to the current high migration task. Obviously, Republicans don't want to solve this issue, they want to use it as a wedge. So, let's see what Joe's got. But, it's an executive order and only a bandaid.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 5 months ago* (last edited 5 months ago) (3 children)

The executive action is likely to allow US officials to shut off asylum requests once a daily threshold is met, allowing border officials to limit the amount of migrant arrivals, according to media.

I know what'll curb illegal border crossings when there's illegal border crossings due to our massive backlog...

We'll just let less people thru legally!

/s

Where's are the people saying Biden can't do anything we want via executive order because he's not a dictator?

For some reason, that only seems to be an issue when it's something we want...

[–] [email protected] 7 points 5 months ago (1 children)

mulling use of a 1952 law that allows access to the American asylum system to be restricted.

Someday givessomefucks will learn the difference between a law and executive order. Today is not this day though.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 5 months ago (1 children)

Someday we won't have to see his "I totes don't want Trump to be re-elected wink wink I'm just trying my hardest to depress Democratic voter turnout!" but I guess it's not this day either.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 5 months ago

The same regulation was used by the Trump administration to ban immigration and travel from several predominantly Muslim countries and to bar migrants from asylum if they were apprehended crossing into the US illegally, provoking accusations of racism.

He's doing exactly what Trump did for the Muslim ban but it's okay now?

Who is Biden doing this for? Not his base and not for republicans

[–] [email protected] 3 points 5 months ago* (last edited 5 months ago)

He did that. For three years of his term. Sanctuary cities are at capacity, and Congress won’t pass immigration policy that would mandate red state participation, so there’s no Federal support.

Executive Orders can address border security, but not immigration policy.

What do you want him to do with the people? Detain them or refuse them entry?

[–] [email protected] 2 points 5 months ago

Also where are the ones saying the Republican bill he was pushing was just a way to make them look bad.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 5 months ago

But when will he sign a bill to curb my enthusiasm? Oh, wait. I never had any for his admin.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 5 months ago

but trump will curb immigration worse!

[–] [email protected] -2 points 5 months ago

I can't believe joe biden would "both sides" us like this!!!!!
