Mbin seems like a healthy project, and the only sensible move from kbin.

PieFed is also a nice project, though it doesn't do microblogging so it's more of a Lemmy alternative.

I guess the whole point here is that people come from different platforms - I'm not sure it makes too much sense to include the platform in the community name at all. General names like 'AskFedi' or AskAround' would make a lot more sense in my book. I don't really care all that much which software a community is hosted on.

Why use a discord when you have ... Other tools?

I already created the discord server a long while back when I was at r/RedditAlternatives, people knew what it was and many average users were already on the platform hence accessible, matrix is great but still not at a stage where the average person uses/knows it compared to tech nerds or enthusiasts, besides we already have around 100 people if not more on the discord server, reusing it made more sense for now although I wouldn't mind creating a matrix in the future once the community grows to offer another way of keeping in touch with our community for those who have or are ready to go to Matrix :)

It won't show any posts if you're joining from a remote instance 'cos MBin returns empty outboxes for their magazines, but there's only one post there atm anyways.

Lemmy will probably error when clicking that link, so just wait a bit and refresh.

So this comment has one link, and two paragraphs about how it might not work as expected, but - other than that - yay Fediverse!, I guess, ha ha.

Can you elaborate on outboxes? Idk what that means but I have been working on an mbin instance and it has been a struggle... Thanks for posting the ! I'm gonna use that, also.

The link seemed to work for me from lemmy. I see three posts there when I click it at least.

If you have any feedback for Interstellar (the only Mbin app I know of), please share. I use the app daily, and it works great for my use case, but I don't automatically know what other people would like until they communicate it. (I'm the dev, btw)

Well, for starters it only has a card view. That means only one submission fits onto the screen in full at a time, which I personally find unusable, because it is kinda like I have to look at every single submission / thread. Compared to Lemmy or Reddit apps where I can display around 4-5 on my screen, easily skipping the ones I don't care about.

I think the spacing for the cards might need to be adjusted anyway, but yeah, some sort of dense layout mode would be good to add.
