This is a manufactured fake greentext. Some kind of CIA psyop to whitewash 2011 4chan as somehow pro LGBTQ or chill with My Little Pony. I mean there's nothing necessarily wrong with that, it's just kind of ridiculous to try and act like this comes from 2011.
The real psyop was the conservative takeover of online spaces. I remember the old net. Even unmoderated shitholes like 4chan were significantly more leftist. Deviant communities like furries and especially the bronies were absolutely on 4chan back in the day. Sure, there were lots of generally rude assholes, but most of them were apolitical or tankies.
So you're saying it is fake, and gay?
There's actually a /MLP/ board on 4chan. There aren't a lot of fandoms that have their own separate board, but they made that one because people were pony-posting all over the other message boards.
The opposite, actually. The mlp fandom originated on 4chan I think.
I'm fairly certain I remember reading this in 2011.
Yeah I recall reading this in 2011/2012. It always pops into my head every time I see a conservative whining about a show having a gay character because of da woke.
I am replying to this comment for no other reason than to poke fun at yor profile picture.
The people Love you, my lord.
Can confirm. I remember my seeing a first "hey, did you guys by any chance happen to see the new episode" post on /b/ back in 2010, quickly followed by it exploding on 4chan and people setting up the first pony tf2 servers, moot creating /pony/ as a containment board, and everyone saying "don't post on /pony/ or you'll get IP banned in two weeks" - because a decade prior, moot had created the /furry/ containment board when furries got big, let it sit for two weeks, then IP banned everyone who had posted to it and deleted it.
Of course, he didn't replicate the action with /pony/, which is still around. And early brony culture was fascinating, because on a site where shock humor ruled and the experience was like digging through a sewer to find gems, suddenly a subculture emerged that was heavily anti-irony, kind, and genuine. Absolutely bizarre to watch.
Worth noting, as others have, that this was pre-gamergate, which was the social movement that took 4chan and turned it from a place that let Nazis post (usually "iRoNiCaLly" under the premise of being part of the ocean of piss that was the shock humor on /b/) and rolled it into a full Nazi bar.
4chan always had an lbgtq community. Somehow.
People judge 4chan by /b
It has always had wholesome bits too
4chan was somewhat progressive before Gamer Gate and Trump
It was full on progressive in social issues. Anonymous was progressive (it still is) socially and politically. 4chan shifted with Gamergate and it escalated from there.
Idk, anon could just be extremely anti theist. Aggressively atheist and libertarian are also 4chan stereotypes from the time.
