In French, this one is called Grand-duc de Coromandel, which seems to be named after coromandel wood from the same part of the world with a somewhat similar pattern.

I didn't knew about this wood but that's beautiful and I see the ressemblance with the owl

It seems like many pretty things, it was harvested to near extinction and is protected now. Things made out of it are likely out of my price range. 😅
