I have no idea what kind of job this would be to cause so much disdain. Is "menu" a weird translation for pamphlet or something?

Food court chinese or teriyaki restaurant where they hand you a menu with attached coupon. Or a pita pit if it’s a slow day. People dislike the feeling of obligation that comes with the coupon and menu and lash out. Anon is just in the advertising crossfire.

Strange, I've never seen someone doing this. So, they're in some walkway choke point at the food court handing out a menu like "hey look at that restaurant over there, you could get some General Tso's for 25% off today" kind of thing. Not much different from the sign spinners on the sidewalk I guess.

New one to me too.

I get the idea that less productive jobs like that are a result of the yanks having such a low minimum wage, they can invent demeaning new things for their slaves to do?

Sounds like food work to me.

People will go out of their way to remind you that you aren't a person to them. Hell you're not even a living thing to them. You're just some piece of garbage they have to deal with.
