Sometimes you have a product that's a loss leader to hold marketshare instead
I can't imagine adblockers are really that big of a deal, it's just Google trying to get revenue off the 0.1% of people who use them
Also a lot of times revenue continues to grow while the company also has a good reason to believe the costs will result in more revenue in the future so they operate in the red with good reason to believe they'll profit. It's weird seeing such big companies do this though. It's usually a thing with startups.
