Why is the default setting for the startpage's feed "Local" and not "All" (lemmy.world)

I think this has negative effects on the threadiverse because it tends to keep user's focus at lemmy.world and in general keeps users to stay in their bubbles

For selecting which instance you should join, would "local" or "all" be a better choice for the front page for a new user unfamiliar with Lemmy?
