Author talks specifically about professional cooks that are not able to do that because of noise. It's an interesting perspective since it sounds like previous Timer iterations were quite transformative to mundane part of that profession.

I'd be quite surprise if it doesn't work. I set timers on my watch with the radio on full blast, and the kids yelling at me.

I agree with the author's main point, however that the resdesign is a bit of a train wreck

Yeah, one thing Siri seems to be oddly good at is isolating your voice from other noise - even when speaking at a normal volume.
