Yeah, I thought lemmy had trouble with webp too, but gifs can just get so big and sluggish.
Maybe I'll just stick with still images for the time-being.
Gifs normally work fine, it's just that catbox.moe is slow. If you host it somewhere else it should be fine. Also for webps they are a bit broke right now on the default ui and on sync, so I would wait to use them until after they are fixed
