Remember what happened to re3/reVC? Yeah, this won't lead to much.
Source code of re3/revc is still available, community can preserve this leaked code as well
Legality is not an issue here. We are not exactly respecting copyright law anyway.
Not that I'd want to respect it for companies like Rockstar. They rigged a good game to turn it into a cash cow.
Which game are you talking about?
Thank you
Source code of re3/reVC is just a source code for GTA3/VC.
Re 3 ? What happened ?
Project(s) to run GTA3/ViceCity on modern systems. Entirely reverse engineered and "legal", but Rockstar got their GitHub's taken down.
Yeah, the problem with stolen source code is that you can't really use it for much except maybe developing modding tools, and even then you can't say out loud that you used the source and didn't reverse engineer shit
I agree. Source code is not needed at all, especially for a game like GTA V with a very active modding community. People have added new textures, ray tracing and even made new games with new campaigns without any source code. Releasing the source even officially won't change or improve anything.
This makes it easier to intergrate with more extensive integration.
You have no idea how much easier it is to mod a game when you can look at the source code. GTA V has a thriving modding scene despite its source being unavailable for modders.
