Hallo, Hello, Hola, Aloha, etc.

I kept notes for a five year-long D&D game in Microsoft OneNote, which worked fine, but I kept wishing for more features. I'm hoping y'all can recommend something better suited to my desired use.

  • Page per game session (day), unless there's a better paradigm
  • Crosslinking easily, so that I can link every appearance of a character in the notes to a page for that character (or spell or place or organization or whatever). Is it possible for this to happen automatically by linking future uses of that word?
  • Some stats about frequency e.g. "this character has appeared X times" or "player X rolled a 1 Ytimes". Probably achieved by counting the number of times a page was linked to?
  • Ideally, but not mandatory, collaborative. I'm capable of self-hosting either full time but maybe some have a "share on local network" option to use during a session.
  • Inserting images
  • Open source is preferred for ethical reasons, but I can use proprietary or paid software
  • Don't care much about text formatting

I appreciate any input!

TiddlyWiki is a “non-linear personal web notebook,” as well as an exemplar project in the open source community. It can be a note-taking or information-ordering system in a similar vein to Obsidian or Notion, although TiddlyWiki was launched back in 2004. It can also be thought of as producing a wiki with interactive components.

However, as I discovered to my cost, TiddlyWiki has never had a strong “start here,” because it is not tailored to one specific task. Obsidian, by comparison, has the advantage of a clear vision of what it does. TiddlyWiki bewilders you with options at first because it hasn’t been designed to be sold. The community focus is on adapting it to different use cases.

So I’m going to take the advice in this explainer and use TiddlyDesktop while mentioning that there are plenty of other arrangements. It is, after all, just HTML and JavaScript. Sometimes I like to use nvim for PKM stuff (sometimes in parallel with Logseq because I think that the vim plugin does what it can, but there's a lot of features that I just do quicker on nvim. So, I created this alias to open in the terminal the latest .md file in my PKM folder (both pages and journals) pkmu.

I also have another ones like pkm, that opens in nvim today's journal. and pkmj and pkmp open the directory for PKM journals and pages, if I want to do anything there (maybe a fzf, rename, bat, rm…).

alias pkm='nvim "$HOME/Documentos/PKM/logseq/journals/$(date +%Y_%m_%d).md"'
alias pkmj='cd $HOME/Documentos/PKM/logseq/journals/'
alias pkmp='cd $HOME/Documentos/PKM/logseq/pages/'
alias pkmu='nvim "$(find $HOME/Documentos/PKM/logseq/ -type f -name '\''*.md'\'' -printf '\''%T@ %p\n'\'' | sort -n | tail -1 | cut -d'\'' '\'' -f2-)"'

I just wanted to share this with you, just in case it helps, or gives you any cool idea.

I’m torn between reflect and capacities but leaning towards reflect. I just like how fast and simple it is. Anybody have an opinion?

Being a Marketer, I've experienced the overwhelming nature of my work, and the common challenge of forgetting important details. The fast-paced nature of the world means that if I don't act promptly, I might miss out on great ideas. Time constraints and forgetfulness often lead to neglecting potentially great ideas, stifling creativity, and limiting innovation potential. I soon realized that many others face this same challenge.

That's why my team and I created SaveDay - a knowledge hub designed to help you quickly capture, collect, and get answers from your favorite content. Our goal is to simplify the process of turning raw data into your knowledge and wisdom.

Whether you've been with us from the beginning or just joined recently, we are so glad to have you on board. We’re eager to gather feedback on SaveDay and learn how we can further improve it based on your experiences.

We're committed to continuing to innovate, listen to your feedback, and provide you with a platform that meets your needs and exceeds your expectations ❤️

Cross-post from: https://lemmy.world/post/9282945

I'd like to sync my markdown notes between devices (laptop and phone), which service is better: Nextcloud or Syncthing? Any other important idea I should know?, like latency times, or maximum number of synced devices, what if I edit the same note from both places without internet and then both get connected to a network... For example, I know Nextcloud let me have a history of the notes.

not sure if its the best way to solve it but i made a custom deployment object in #anytype and a collection with all teh deployments .. so in each software object i can add the thing as inline collection but filter for its name, and each customer can have the same thing but filtered for customer. well tchncs is a customer now too but thats cosmetic :P ... so far ... so handy ... until now that was living in a sheet document @pkm

Org-mode (discuss.tchncs.de)

Anyone here uses Org-mode for PKM? I'm planning on moving to it from Obsidian, primarily due to Org-babel and the fact that it's open source, and would like to know what your setups and workflows are like with it (plus points if you're a student because I am too)

Actually a tool for literature management, zotero is also a very suitable tool for PKM. Integration of documents is very easy. Only downside: no integration of mails.

This is how I do PKM. No big changes since I wrote this post. TiddlyWiki is nice.
