DHL Express is suspending deliveries to the US worth more than $800 (£603) because of a "significant increase" in red tape at customs following the introduction of Donald Trump's new tariff regime. 

The delivery giant said it will temporarily stop shipments from companies in all countries to American consumers on Monday "until further notice".

It added that business-to-business shipments will still go ahead, "though they may also face delays".

Previously, packages worth up to $2,500 could enter the US with minimal paperwork but due to tighter customs checks that came into force alongside Trump's tariffs earlier this month, the threshold has been lowered.

The Supreme Court temporarily blocked the Trump administration from deporting any Venezuelans held in the Bluebonnet Detention Center, in west-central Texas, under the Alien Enemies Act, a rarely used 18th-century wartime law that allows for accelerated removal of foreigners deemed a threat by authorities.

"The government is directed not to remove any member of the putative class of detainees from the United States until further order of this court," the court said in a brief early Saturday note. Justices Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito dissented.

The US will abandon trying to broker a Russia-Ukraine peace deal within days unless there are clear signs a truce can be reached, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has warned.

"We're not going to continue with this endeavour for weeks and months on end," Rubio said, adding that the US had "other priorities to focus on".

Russia launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022 and has placed a number of conditions on any potential ceasefire.

Despite the Trump administration's initial confidence that it could secure a deal quickly, attempts to reach a full ceasefire have yet to materialise, with Washington blaming both sides.

A U.S. judge on Friday barred the Trump administration from implementing a new policy allowing it to rapidly deport hundreds if not thousands of migrants to countries other than their own without giving them a chance to show they fear being persecuted, tortured or killed there.

U.S. District Judge Brian Murphy in Boston last month had issued an order that temporarily blocked the administration from fast-tracking deportations, hobbling its ability to remove migrants subject to final orders who in some cases have legal protections preventing them from being sent back to their countries of origin.

I created a post on PTB about the removal of my post which lead to them issuing me a six month ban

When I asked the mod why I was banned for six months without breaking any rules they told me it was because ‘You want drama by whining in other places about our rules. You made your choice, see you in six months.’

I think an important part of moderation is being accountable to your decisions and I think that the moderator and community in question holds themselves above any of that.

I’m also pretty sure many of the accounts that regularly post there are the same person.

The Federal Communications Commission chief blasted news outlets owned by Comcast over their coverage of a case involving a mistakenly deported Salvadoran immigrant who the Trump administration contends is a gang member.

“Comcast outlets spent days misleading the American public — implying that Abrego Garcia was merely a law abiding U.S. citizen, just a regular “Maryland man,” FCC Chair Brendan Carr wrote in a post on the social platform X. “When the truth comes out, they ignore it.”

Carr said Comcast, like all major media conglomerates that operate news divisions, “knows that federal law requires its licensed operations to serve the public interest.”

“News distortion doesn’t cut it,” he added.

Carr’s condemnation of NBC News and MSNBC’s parent company comes a day after President Trump issued a similar threat to the broadcast network and referenced Comcast’s plans to spin off its cable assets this year.

If President Donald Trump’s administration has its way, the capacity to hold tens of thousands more migrants will soon be added around the country as the U.S. seeks an explosive expansion of what is already the world’s largest immigration detention system.

Trump’s effort to conduct mass deportations as promised in the 2024 campaign represents a potential bonanza for private prison companies and a challenge to the government agencies responsible for the orderly expulsion of immigrants. Some critics say the administration’s plans also include a deliberate attempt to isolate detainees by locking them up and holding court proceedings far from their attorneys and support systems.

The White House has dug in on its refusal to return a man who US officials have acknowledged was wrongly deported last month to an El Salvador mega-prison.

Press secretary Karoline Leavitt doubled down on accusations that Salvadoran national Kilmar Ábrego García was a member of the MS-13 gang.

Leavitt also accused the 29-year-old of domestic violence, citing records showing his US citizen wife once filed a protective order against him.

A Maryland judge has ordered President Donald Trump's administration to bring Mr Ábrego García back to the US. But El Salvador President Nayib Bukele said on a visit to the White House this week that he did not "have the power" to return him.

Email to Massachusetts lawyer warned her to ‘depart the US immediately’ even though removing US citizens is illegal

A Massachusetts immigration lawyer who is a US-born American citizen is speaking out after she received an email from Trump administration immigration authorities telling her she needed to leave the country.

Nicole Micheroni described receiving an email on 11 April – and that its heading was “notice of termination of parole”.

“It is time for you to leave the United States,” the email read. “If you do not depart the United States immediately you will be subject to potential law enforcement actions that will result in your removal from the United States.”

Micheroni told NBC Boston: “At first I thought it was for a client, but I looked really closely and the only name on the email was mine.
