This level really kicks it up a notch

It was firmly intended to be the final, console-defining, large-scale international PlayStation 1 blockbuster before it gave way to the PS2 – but in the last moment, Sony Interactive cut the game’s marketing budget and scrubbed its international release, condemning it to a small, domestic-only launch in Japan and due to its convoluted code, it became known as a game that was impossible to translate even by the most dedicated fan-translators/rom-hackers. Until just recently.

We need more folks joining us in our silly goober endevours. We will probably play the Mike Force gamemode, otherwise antistasi will probably be played. If you want to know or discuss more details: Ask away or join the 5th international volunteer brigade! https://discord.gg/rp6sRBKE

Takes me right back to high school with this game and mini tournaments we had with it. Easily one of the worst fighting games ever but we didn't have FighterZ back then.

Two d-pads, one analog stick, three triggers and two face buttons? What were they smoking in Kyoto in the early 90s stalin-stressed I have only seen a Nintendo 64 in real life like twice back in the 90s so I have no clue what all these buttons do in most games.

Thanks to recent developments I went and downloaded every Nintendo emulator I could. I was surprised to see how fractured Nintendo 64 emulation seems to still be on PC. I was expecting there to be a Duckstation, PCSX2 or Dolphin equivalent but no, there seems to be no clear winner, and two of the bigger ones are closed source and use plugins like it's 2005, and one doesn't even come with a GUI by default

Though in Final Fantasy you encounter dragons pretty early on, at least in VII you did, on the first disc and they're kind of a pushover. The chromatic dragons in the Gold Box D&D games are easier too, at least in Curse Of The Azure Bonds black dragons go down pretty fast. The hardest I've yet to face are in the roguelike Angband, the ancient dragons or 8-headed hydra, they breathe poison and can end up killing you in one turn.

Video is over 2 hours long and goes over 1970s history of D&D and other tabletop RPGs inspired by D&D during this time.

Here's the description:

Just one year after the publication of Dungeons & Dragons, four other games debuted and helped define the new genre that would come to be called "Role-Playing Games." Learn about Boot Hill, Tunnels & Trolls, En Garde!, and Empire of the Petal Throne in this video: who created them and why, the game mechanics they used, and their legacy in shaping the future of roleplaying games for decades into the future.

Enjoy, y'all.

Listen to it while you're doing other things, ig

I highly recommend subscribing to this channel, even if you're not going to watch or listen to the video, as he does other more shorter videos, and it's always nice listening to the history of D&D and tabletop RPG games from someone that worked on them during his prime.

Welp, again, enjoy.
