AND everything feels so big and clunky which i realized after reading another comment that brought that up
yeah i dont think material you is the issue for me as much as the underlying theme with material 3

my bigger issue is that im not big on material 3 tbh
now if they did all the color themeing stuff on material 2 id be more into it
material 3 is way too rounded and overly simplified for my liking

^ this
until google completely locks down android i think androids still gonna be popular with someone
i say until because theyre totally gonna find a way to, theyre probably just waiting until they have an opportunity to since google pretty much envies apple above all else

ok so the main hope here as a non google messages user is that this forces google to actually open up rcs more
because the fact that on android its de facto completely controlled by google (yes, i know its an open standard, thats why apple can do it separately, but you can still functionally monopolize an open standard) really sucks
like man i just want apis for rcs in aosp finally is that too much to ask for :(

anonymity for me but not for thee

[–] [email protected] 7 points 10 months ago

yeah real name or not people are gonna be horrible to each other if they want to already
anonymity will deffo make it more desirable to for the ones who are on the edge tho

i just run afwall+ on my aosp rom to block network perms from apps

pretty much spot on, search is still pretty bad on fedi (on the twittery side and the reddity side)
although it is still not hard to invade someones privacy the old fashioned way by, for instance, making alt accounts to evade blocks but thats nothing unique thats all platforms

direct messages arent really private on any platform but on the fediverse they especially arent
not only can your admin read your messages if they really want to (like non federated sites) but also you have to consider the other instances admins too
i think thats why lemmy has a profile field for a matrix username by default because thats at least a more private way to do dms
