@[email protected] @[email protected] I'm gonna start by debunking the myth that Israel is invulnerable because they have nuclear weapons. Since they have so many conventional precision weapons pointed at Israel, without nuclear weapons Lebanon, Yemen, and Iran are still able to take out strategic targets: missile launchers, AA weapons, radar, runways, facilities in important bases, etc. In addition to this, they can use the strategy even against protected locations like these powerplants striking them with barrages that first use a bunch of cheap projectiles like drones to break the air defense then get a bunch of conventional strikes through depriving Israel of electricity. They can also do this to other facilities like water treatment, forcing military logistics to shift to providing food and water for civilians. note that none of this has the domestic and international consequences of using nuclear weapons. Now something to know about Israel is that they're not able to do without these amenities and they require extremely high morale to be willing to fight since they live in a giant strip mall.

LOOSE LIPS DON’T SINK SHIPS, OR ISRAEL

[...]
If Israel escalates by attacking Iran and striking at the country’s infrastructure, then Iran’s counter will be to take a page out of Russia’s book and commence the one line of attack which Israel, the US and their allies cannot withstand any better than Ukraine – that’s Electric War.
For the seven months which have elapsed since Hamas began its operation against Israel on October 7, and Israel commenced its genocide against the Palestinians, there has been no targeting by Hamas, Hezbollah, the Houthis, or the Syrian and Iraqi groups of Israel’s highly vulnerable maritime gas platforms, gas pipelines, coal and oil-fired electricity generating plants, the coal and oil storages nearby, solar and wind power units, or the electricity grids keeping the country alight.
The Arab inhibitions and calculations are understandable. Iran’s will disappear if Israel triggers a new round of attacks.

"Iran received messages from mediators to let the regime do a symbolic strike to save face, asked Iran not to retaliate,” the source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, revealed to The Cradle

https://orinocotribune.com/us-makes-failed-bid-for-iran-to-allow-symbolic-strike-by-israel/

"Iran has received messages from mediators to let the regime do a symbolic strike to save face and asked Iran not to retaliate,” the source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, revealed to The Cradle.
He added that Tehran “outright rejected” the proposal, delivered by mediators, and reiterated warnings that any Israeli attack on Iranian soil would be met with a decisive and immediate response.
The reply was delivered directly to the Swiss envoy in Tehran by officials from the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and not the foreign ministry. According to The Cradle’s source, the decision for the IRGC to reply directly was meant “to send a strong warning to the US.”
“Iran successfully embarrassed all of the integrated radar network and anti-missile systems of the US and the [Israeli] regime. The US even activated its parked satellites over the region to do maximum protection and failed miserably,” the Iranian military official added.
The revelations come as US defense officials have told western media that they expect a “limited response” from Israel against Iran, which will reportedly focus on targets outside of Iranian territory.
Nevertheless, US officials stressed that Tel Aviv had not briefed the Pentagon on a “final decision” as discussions within Israel’s fractured war cabinet continued.
“The US does not intend to take part in the military response,” they confirmed. However, they expect Israel to inform Washington about response plans in advance.
[...]
Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Ali Bagheri Kani told state TV on Monday night that Tehran’s response to any Israeli retaliation would come in “a matter of seconds, as Iran will not wait for another 12 days to respond.

🇧🇫 Counterterrorism "When I heard the word “Militias”, I automatically knew who is behind these people: the imperialists, especially 🇫🇷."

"Our goal is to establish sharia law in the whole world, specifically in Burkina Faso 🇧🇫”, he added.
He said that they have noticed that Captain has recruited some militias called the VDP ( Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland). Now, let me pause right here and make a comment. When I heard the word “Militias”, I automatically knew who is behind these people: the imperialists, especially France 🇫🇷.
Why? Because, it was the same imperialists, especially France 🇫🇷 that were accusing us on the MSM and on their media that we recruited militias without training and sent them to the frontline. They even used this as an alibi to refuse to sell us weapons, and even used their diplomatic ties to block the delivery of weapons we bought from others like Russia 🇷🇺. Of course, that’s not true because, our VDPs undergo training for months before being deployed. So, for me, when he used the same rhetoric, I knew who are their sponsors. [...]

This account occasionally shares some spicy opinions but it's a relatively accurate OSINT guy who isn't pure evil. How often does that happen on X (formerly known as Twitter)? Very interesting points about France above.
Rest of the posts on recent clashss are interesting. If you're curious why people in the comments are so happy to see these dudes die I'm happy to explain.

This is what any microblog instance looks like when it's being forced into an unholy matrimony with Lemmy. Mastodon looks just like this. https://fedidb.org/software/FireFish is the most advanced ActivityPub featureset available. The only complements it needs are https://fedidb.org/software/Funkwhale and https://fedidb.org/software/Bookwyrm

The translation feature in particular makes it superior even for browsing Lemmy. But also none of you bother to provide alt-text image descriptions for people who have sight and sensory issues, while Mastodon & Misskey forks passively promote its use allowing the blind to interact with the web through our aggregation. The user tags here don't cause any functional issue other than increasing character count. Lemmy posts on instance 1 already create a situation where a reply from instance 2 with a reply from instance 3 won't show the third reply on instance 1. All of our software is shit, but at least it's good shit. Anyways, your nonsense about this obviously superior software aside, let's reply to your trashy analysis of current events.

I have no idea why you're so invested in the conjectures you've based off reading reports from the Zionists that this attack was successfully fended off and they took no serious damage, because the attack didn't fit some arbitrary guideline.
War isn't about pleasing spectators online, as the Ukrainians have been taught so painfully over the past few years.
Zionists spent over a billion dollars fending off Iran's "wasteful" use of drones. The attack cost Iran something in the millions.
They essentially launched a mass of chaff to break the AA and issued a warning strike.
Let me quote an infamous one-trick pony commentator:

Nevatim was defended by the world’s most advanced integrated anti-missile defense shield which incorporated Arrow 2, David’s Sling, THAAD, and Patriot 3 with the AN/TPY-2 X-band surveillance and targeting radar. You also ignore the fact that this system was designed to exclusively defend against the Iranian medium-range ballistic missile threat.
And yet…5-7 missiles hit Nevatim. The Israelis have acknowledged 2 runways and three warehouse structures hit.
Not a knockout blow—it wasn’t intended as such.
But any BDA expert would note that the point of impact was center mass, a clear indication of precision guidance.
5-7 missiles hit the world’s most heavily defended location, defeating an integrated ABM defense that was custom built to defeat the missiles it failed to shoot down.

I guess I am supposed to trust your intuition that the Iranians are lying about getting more out of this attack than they expected because,,, why? They're biased?

[–] [email protected] 5 points 6 months ago (2 children)

Ugh federation is fucking up my replies again.
You're the fucking moron coming up with depressing fanfiction based off vague headline recollections. Did you even see Iran got hits with basic ballistic missiles that reach hypersonic velocities towards the end of their flight path? Conventional weapons this magic air defense is supposed to work on.
Why don't you calm down with your Game of Thrones brain shit about how Ansarallah and Qassam Brigades and Hezbollah and Syria and Iran are all divided because they didn't escalate the way you think they should. Why don't you go play HOI4 or Warhammer, you illiterate churl?

more defeatism and crap about how the resistance is pathetic except for a random redeeming quality. fine, let's have a serious discussion after you spend a few more days doing pessimistic media criticism! seriously, let's go. i'm all for it. i may act like a bit of a dick but it's to make my disagreement unambiguous and avoid misunderstandings in the end

@[email protected]

[–] [email protected] 10 points 6 months ago (7 children)

i would simply not be emotionally invested in the powerlessness and ineffectuality of the resistance to the point i start uncritically consuming western media at the moment it is least likely to tell the truth

all the reports are saying

are you kidding me dude? oh wait this is dot world. makes sense, this could be a reddit comment it sucks that much.
did you hear about Yemen laying waste to Eilat or expanding their blockade into the Indian Ocean?? probably not.
just got finished talking with an Israeli arguing they are both "made invincible by the IDF" and "harmed" by fear of "Iranian joke rockets". air defense isn't magic, the good systems we have just spam $2M rockets over and over at $2000 drones

Now Israel gets a greenlight for its genocide

they already have it

the USA comes to the rescue to finish the job

they're already there

[NOT A JOKE] Israeli war cabinet minister Benny Gantz said that Hamas fighters "are eliminated or in hiding" declares Hamas defeated, but sees years of fighting ahead

https://tass.com/world/1773319

TEL AVIV, April 10. /TASS/. While Hamas has been defeated on the battleground, Israel will need to send soldiers to fight Palestinian radicals in the Gaza Strip for years to come, Israeli war cabinet minister Benny Gantz said.

"From a military point of view Hamas is defeated. Its fighters are eliminated or in hiding," he said following a meeting of his National Unity party in the city of Sderot.

Still, it’s not the end of the battle for Israel, the minister said.

"Fighting against Hamas will take time. Boys who are now in middle school will still fight in the Gaza Strip, like in Judea and Samaria and against Lebanon," he went on to say.

The situation in the Middle East sharply escalated following an incursion of Hamas militants from the Gaza Strip into Israel on October 7, accompanied by killings of residents of Israeli settlements near the border and taking more than 200 hostages, including children, women and elderly people. Hamas cast the attack as a response to Israeli actions against the Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem. Israel declared a complete siege of the Gaza Strip and started striking the enclave and parts of Lebanon and Syria. Clashes are also taking place in the West Bank.

‘Left pan-Africanist’ Bassirou Diomaye Faye confirmed as Senegal’s new president-elect: What’s next? (Liberation News)

https://mronline.org/2024/04/10/left-pan-africanist-bassirou-diomaye-faye-confirmed-as-senegals-new-president-elect-whats-next/

The 44-year-old Faye will be the youngest president of Senegal. His victory is considered an upset–Faye is a self-described “left pan-Africanist” and his pledge to pursue significant systemic reforms in the country has been well received, in particular by Senegalese youth. Faye won as an independent after his party, the African Patriots of Senegal for Work, Ethics, and Fraternity (PASTEF) was unilaterally dissolved in July 2023 in a crackdown on opposition protests by the incumbent government of President Macky Sall, as covered last year in Liberation News.

The leader of the party, Ousmane Sonko was arrested along with Faye and barred from running in the 2024 presidential election. Sonko and Faye, who had been arrested earlier in 2023, were released along with hundreds of other political prisoners on March 14–just ten days before the election. Their release was triggered by the Constitutional Court barring an attempt by incumbent President Macky Sall to postpone the elections over concerns about which candidates were legally eligible to run.

The court overturned this move, affirming that Sall must leave office on April 2. Sonko ran for president on the PASTEF ticket in 2019, receiving just over 15% of the vote. This year, Faye stepped in as the party’s candidate as Sonko’s legal eligibility remained in question and decisively won with 54.3% of the vote in the first round over incumbent Prime Minister Amadou Ba’s 35.8%.

U.S. ramps up regime change efforts in Solomon Islands in advance of upcoming election (Covert Action Magazine)

https://mronline.org/2024/04/09/u-s-ramps-up-regime-change-efforts-in-solomon-islands-in-advance-of-upcoming-election/

@[email protected] (I still can't get worldnews to appear on this instance so bear with me)

Viewing the South Pacific as part of an “American lake,” as declared by Dwight Eisenhower in 1954, the Biden administration has recently signed security pacts with the Marshall Islands, Palau and Micronesia and is rebuilding old airfields in the Pacific islands used for bombing attacks on Japan in World War II, including the atomic attacks on Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

Washington would like to bring Solomon Islands into the fold; however, Sogavare signed a security deal in April 2022 giving Chinese security personnel access to the Solomon Islands and allowing China to make “ship visits” and deploy forces there.

So Sogavare is being targeted for regime change.
