Bluesky is FOSS
pretty sure it isn't.
- marketing
- not having to pick the instance when registering
- people who have experienced Mastodon's hermetic culture discouraging others from joining
- algorithms helping discover people and content to follow
- marketing
and I'm saying that as a firm Mastodon user and believer.
the ass was flat
yes. it's Firefox with some extra UI modifications, but it's the same thing under the hood.
are they federated with each other?
no. there's a sort of a third party bridge, but it requires an account on one platform to follow a bot in order to show up on another, so if someone on Bluesky doesn't explicitly do it and you're using Mastodon, then you're not going to connect.
Since they are integrating a web browser in the app
are they, though? I thought they just grab whatever data Invidious API fetches and display it with their method of choice, similar to how mobile clients for Invidious and Piped work. PlasmaTube manages to do similar thing without becoming a single purpose web browser.
