Oh shit, I remember LiteStep and spending hours and hours to just fiddle with how my desktop looked. I personally felt Windows 2000 was the pinnacle of MS OSs (except so many games etc. wouldn't run because rightly the OS reported it was Windows NT and a lot of games shat themselves at that)

Haha, I remember buying Mandrake Linux CDs... I'm a FreeBSD user these days (for the past 20-odd years) but still run KDE. Plus they're still trying to remain fairly *nix agnostic which is nice.

Yeah I remember IE5 and NS4, as well as the Firebird/Phoenix/Firefox naming joys back in the day.

If you want to blow your brains out, try getting XHTML 1.1 working in IE6. It is indeed possible if you modify the XHTML DTD. Interestingly it'd render shit so much better since it'd use MSXML instead of Trident as the rendering engine. Sadly it would add about 400k to the page since it needed to load a custom DTD...

Yeah it's a pain in the arse. I 100% recommend Broadcom or Intel NICs for a router. I have a fileserver which has several Intel NICs and a single Realtek one and the latter is a PITA.

If you're using any FreeBSD-based OS you should manually compile the realtek-re-kmod port. Make sure your kernel source is in sync with what you're running.

78% yes so far (City of Melbourne is my area). But it's not enough.

I have a partner who looks indigenous and is scared of how this will all play out. We worried this will normalise racism even more than it has already become.

In one case I found out they lied to me about why we broke up and the second she became a horrible, vindictive person after we broke up and started spreading lies and rumours about 6 month after we split. Originally both breakups were quite amicable and soured and they didn't understand that that had quite a lot to do with my decision to 100% no contact.

I don't think I'm 100% against it now that I think about it further. I just seem to have a history of dating people with an underlying hurtful streak and/or poor empathy...

Yep I second this. I have gone NC with all my exes. Two wanted continued contact but that's just not me and sometimes people ask me what they're up to and I can happily respond I have NFI.

The past is the past.

I remember seeing something on Bamboo too and how we should be trying harder to grow it and use it as a core material. But growers are also reluctant. I admit I'm a bit outside of my domain of expertise on this but it seems we could be doing a lot better.

I'm in Vic and work once called for a wellbeing check-in on me (bipolar). Thankfully the main cop spoke to seemed lovely and just wanted to chat, asked me what day it was etc. to check whether I was psychotic or not. His partner was much more.... Shitty. Asked only a couple of questions but made it feel like an interrogation that put me on edge and that made him more on edge. The main cop shut him down though thankfully.

I met her at a night some friends run that cater to the comedy crowd. Was also so uplifting and chatty. So sad to hear the news...

There is also dancesafe.org that's been around for 25-odd years in the US too. Ever since I heard about it in the late 90s/early 2000s I thought we should totally have an org like that here in Aus too.
