I have an Aventon abound cargo bike, and I'm about 220 riding weight. On 2nd level assist (of four levels) which is where I ride 99% of the time, I get about 30 miles. Fairly flat terrain. I also ride on the fast side and I'm in decent mountain biking shape - that definitely matters, I almost never touch the throttle.

Most cargo I've had on it was around 150lb. No idea what the range reduction would have been but the bike handled just fine.

I'm sure he's a kinder, gentler Huckabee nowadays.

My understanding is that range estimates are based on 150lb rider, flat ground, lowest assist setting. Ebike standards are pretty Wild West right now though, so that's worth a fart in a hurricane.

Dang, I was wondering why I clapped the other day. Good to know.

Pretty good discussion of this.

Not suitable for most e-bikes. Too heavy.

If you get the chance to read or listen to "The Kingdom, the Power, and the Glory" by Tim Alberta, do it, it was super interesting.

I'm not sure who this is for - if someone is moving to a trike because they have balance issues, they're not gonna be riding it on single track.

I guess it's just an alternative to a regular eMTB, just a different off-road toy. Nothing wrong with that. :) in a way it reminds me of the ski sled thing you sit on like a bike.

The most interesting part of the article

"One of the things that we have done in my office, for the drop boxes across the counties, is make sure that they have fire suppression equipment inside of those drop boxes," Fontes said during a Zoom call with election officials on Thursday. "Unfortunately, the United States Postal Service doesn't have that."

People like that live to 110 on pure spite and meanness. And if you think he's not gonna run again in 2028, regardless of the outcome in two weeks...

I do not live in an Idaho stop state, but I do it regularly.

TL;DR - shitty battery goes FWOOOF

"Hicks explained that Talaria normally only uses a well-respected battery maker known as Greenway Batteries. ... However, due to a “clerical error made by the Talaria team,” some Talaria MX5 electric motorbikes that were shipped to the US included a battery produced by another supplier known as Scud."
