Ohh.. you have a bar, well there is an unbiased position, a person making profit selling toxic substances to addicts

Smoke film on the walls bother him. Move the bar to a dead end alley so exhaust fumes don't affect your cleaning

you want to see disgusting, go see babies being born crack addicted and if they survive day two moms fight doctors to take them out because they need their fix, and the baby is going through withdrawal ... it is like watching the scariest movie.

The reason you are calling it shit is because you were brainwashed that it is. Up until the 80s you could hardly walk into an office public or private and there weren't public ashtrays around. Have cancer, lung, and heart disease decreased? They have INCREASED!!

Have work accidents lethal and disabling injuries decreased? No, they have increased because of unions being faught against like enemies of the state (which they are to any capitalist state).

If tobacco and alcohol are so toxic and dangerous why are they legal? If banning and restricting substances was so effective why is there such a large percentage of youth hooked and nearly incapable of anything than petty crimes?

I'll tell you why, because the system to balance itself and justify all the fascism and violence it holds a monopoly on it needs to criminalize a portion of the population to justify general repression. This is how you can maintain the absolute extreme in inequality, violence and legitimizing violence for the benefit of the majority.

I grew up in a society nobody tried to prevent kids from drinking, and I had not seen a kid drunk. Then in the US I was shocked that the first party I attended half the people were tripping falling down and passing out, and that was called fun!

There is a deeper reason of repression, and it is not to protect the public's health. If they gave a shit about health they would have made health care free and accessible to all as a public service it should have been, together with education, shelter, and nutrition.

Why don't you let it go when it was common knowledge than nearly for half a century there was no liquor advertised on public tv in the US. Whether it was a law or the 3networks shut down and said lets' self regulate so they don't make laws against it .. is a different story.

Again, this is an indictment of our shitty society. We should be banning dirty engines too - electric motors can achieve the same level of torque (and greater!) without pumping out cancer causing pollutants that stink up our world.

Ignorance doesn't clean the air, with the average country still making electric power and transmitting it in long distances in the most inefficient and expensive ways, 86% is produced by burning fossil fuels, and this doesn't include the risk of nuclear power, although clean till you deal with storing depleted uranium. Urban yuppies have been sold the illusion their electric car doesn't pollute, a 60s Rambler running still doesn't pollute, a 5y old electric vehicle in the dumpsite near you will fill the area with toxins. Electricity produced, transmitted, used for charging at less than 40% efficiency, pollutes more than a 60s gas-gassler.

But electric, thermoplastics, vehicle AND OIL/COAL industries need to sell a myth to the urban yuppie to accessorize in something "different" that will stick out and make them feel superior. The upcoming huge environmental hazzard is lack of recycling of useless electric vehicles and their batteries, the enormous amount of excess electricity produced to cover transportation with electricity, and the economic crisis that will result from this irresponsible madness governments are allowing to take place.

This is the shittiest most fascist behavior anyone can utilize to avoid criticism and exposure. Delete the original post in where there is live discussion with more users than any thread on this miserable medium that allows people like swampwitch to behave like this.

So ignorant and aggressive it should be forbidden, as soon as a comment is posted posts can't be removed. Once information is public who does anyone think that is private property and can remove it from the public sphere? Not even facebook twitter and the likes of corporate fascists don't act the way fediverse actors act. Total punks!

you go learn science and research methodology then go make up your own stuff, till then just research sci.journals on what they deduced. Most urban street air is much more toxic and dangerous than inhaling 2nd hand smoke in a bar

Nicotine, a harmless substance, liquefies in such a high temperature that it can hardly make it through the filter and into your lips in gaseous form, so people saying you are spitting nicotine by breathing smoke are full of crap and illusions (I don't see religion being banned for that).

Carbon monoxide? Carbon particles and biproducts of burning carbo-hydrates, as long as our lives are surrounded by vehicles the exhaling of smoke from a smoker's mouth is negligible.

But it stinks! Aaa... but you smell like industrial aromatics, perfumes, deodorants, detergents ... working on a Caterpillar bulldozer stinks but I don't hear anyone banning them

You don't need an ad, or a warning of the risks, you know it is there for the past 50+ years and the right guy that sells it. Just like prozac or ritalin, if you can afford the prescription

The vast majority of homeless in the US historically has been women with children (not and but with) who were not substance abusers. The image of being homeless because of substance abuse was right-wing/neo-liberal propaganda to shift blame to the victims. And just like their spiritual father Goebels said, throw mud and some of it will stick (for generations I might add). The way the image was reinforced was because sub.abusers were more visible, declining shelters when available, or safer out of site places. So people actually saw what they were told. When you see a woman with a cart full of stuff and a kid or two following her on the street you don't identify her as homeless, the sub.abuser laying down in a carton box you do.
