Can't vs won't. I have no doubt that they could do it, but apple didn't get to be one of the most powerful companies in the world by doing the thing that is cheaper for the user.

What service do you use? Been thinking about doing the same sort of thing.

I started using Lidarr. I have had a bit of a hard time with it not being able to just grab a song.

I think this is more in how I have my expectations and workflow set up. It works great for what it's built for, I need to spend some time to adjust.

I use it with the Deemix plugin and that is great.

Are we talking $10 M pre or post tax?

Post tax, $10M 100%. Not having to work and retiring immediately would be amazing.

I do like the recursive option of the red pill. Do a few loops and find the optimal path.

My use case is that I grab house hunters for background tv. Do I need that at high quality? No definitely not. For most shows I'm at 1080p, then for shows/movies I really like I'll grab higher quality.

I use Privacy on a rare basis. It doesn't require a browser plugin, you can just log into their site and copy/paste the information.

It is worth it for me as I use it to sign up for "free" trials that require credit cards and then I don't have to worry about getting charged.

A note about credit cards, if you have a history of payments with a company, that company can ask the issuer for an updated number after you get a new card number. If it works then they just store the updated number and keep up the subscription.

Do you have any old hardware that doesn't have a job? That is a great place to start. Take some time try out different solutions (proxmox, unraid, casa OS). Then as you nail down your needs you can better pick hardware.
