Unless you are on NVidia or need X11 specific things (E.g. a lot of the accessability stuff) I would go for Wayland, it still has some issues but so dose X11 and Wayland is simply the new display server from the xorg foundation because X11 was impossible to properly update by now, it has far too much lagacy code and didn't get any new version in ages for that reason.

I think that's half true, Pulseaudio always was very buggy and a main reason for Linux bad reputation regarding none pro audio but most Distros switched already so if you use the default it will probably be Pipewire already.

I had the opposite experience, Pulseaudio is a buggy pile of shit if you ask me!

I think that would make a lot of sense considering the different communities about similar topic on different instances, can't replace a proper search engine but I get that that would be really expensive to host (you would have to basically index Lemmy) and that's a nice option for official discoverability support. The biggest issue in that regard will continue be the architecture of current search engines tho, Fediverse applications can't rank properly in a domain based system and a Reddit alternative MUST rank in search engines to be viable!

There is a Matrix bridge bot for Discord but the server owner has to set that up on the Discord and Matrix side first

Stolen my data and sharex it around? Discord is one of the worse privacy nightmares under all chat apps and for some reason people don't get it...

True, it can't add new ones ether because it's a extra layer and not part of the actual game!

I am not really sure what you mean with that tbh

Wine and DXVK made it increadably easy to support Linux and if a company doesn't even put in that much effort or intentionally breaks the game for you it's certainly not worth your money! I pirate rather than use the refund window but the principal is the same since I do buy good games after all.

I think Element works well in combination with Jitsi, well or for your need just Jitsi could probably do the job too.
