Time to pressure Nintendo in giving up X as an outlet, too.

Last year they already discontinued being able to post to X from your Switch (as the new API cost was basically astronomical compared to before), so maybe they need another nudge in the right direction.

A feature like this would be very helpful. Thinking of onboarding new users, you'll want to be able to give them an experience that eases them into things.

A custom feed that allows new members to see a variety of the best that Lemmy has to offer would be a good start. Then, when they are comfortable with the platform and its dynamics, they can customise it further, or swap the newbie feed for their own custom filter (which practically would come down to community subscriptions, I suppose?)

Now instead of making this comment very long, I'll put in an video game anology to make it a bit more digestible:

What we need is a tutorial area that showcases all the different things that the Lemmy endgame has to offer. Creating memes, sharing news, the art of shitposting, being a lurker, actual discussions vs just scrolling to see the funnies: all these things are enjoyed by different types of people, and before they can reclass and enjoy the wild open world of Lemmy, it would be good for them to get comfortable with the controls and settings in a relative safe space.

€3k for a 5090. That's $3.1k. Not worth it!

Usually this means the ball part is stuck and/or the ink surrounding it has dried out.

Here's a close up of how they work: https://youtube.com/shorts/7KGqGAlxwJs

If no ink gets transfered unto the ball, it's not able to write anything.

Do you have a link or something to further dig into this?

I think we all knew this was coming though, considering Reddit is still popular to find specific answers that SEO riddled adware websites won't be able to give.

Unironically, I dislike the 196 stuff. It's kinda like shitposting, but at least with shitposting you have standards. Just posting anything for the sake of posting something makes me tune out such communities due to the noise.

Considering there's at least 4 different 196 communities, I understand I am very much in the minority and this is an unpopular opinion.

Good luck trying to convince gamers not to buy a (insanely marketed) game. Remember MW2?

Once again, French people showing balls and putting their money where their mouth is.

Many more organisations and private users should do this, but everyone's scared of losing engagement numbers, ad revenue or virtual internet points.

It's true that it's mirrored, but the difference is that Golden Hour is after the sun has risen, and before the sun has set. Before sunrise it's Blue, and after sunset it's also Blue. Here's a visualisation:

I figured OP just mentally attributed it to a difference between sunrise and sunset based on their experience so far, so I didn't mention it initially.

Nope, you're absolutely right. These time windows are called "Golden Hour" and "Blue Hour" and are one of the basic principles to keep in mind and use in photography.

Here's a page explaining things a bit more: https://www.meredithfontana.com/post/what-is-golden-hour

Ah yes, gambling with just enough fairness to keep you gambling.

You can ask them if you want. I'll post a screenshot next time to avoid confusion, sorry.

No update about this yet, but they have added info about how to edit your hosts file to get access:

We're probably going to wait this one out. We considered putting up a new domain but there are implications with third party services that make it not a trivial swap. In the meantime, if you know how to tweak your hosts file use: 45.33.107.166

If you did this, don't forget to remove it again:

⚠️ If you do edit your hosts file, please remember to remove all the lines after domain is restored.

Although we typically hold an IP for a while, it can change if we update our back-end infrastructure.

Texas Bighorn sheep return to Franklin Mountains

80 Texas Bighorn sheep were reintroduced by helicopter, the first in decades, to their natural habitats in the Franklin Mountains.

The world's oldest known wild bird has laid an egg at the approximate age of 74, US biologists say.

Wisdom, a Laysan albatross, was filmed by the US Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) at the Midway Atoll national wildlife refuge in the Pacific Ocean with her latest partner looking after the egg.

Members of the species usually only live for 12-40 years, but Wisdom was tagged in 1956 when she was about five.

Edit: trying to add a link to this post because it only added the image, but it's being a bish

Summary

The Dutch ban on exporting F-35 fighter jet spare parts to Israel can remain, according to the Supreme Court’s senior legal advisor. Advocate general Paul Vlas stated the appeal court was “justified in concluding that there is a clear risk that Israel’s use of F-35 fighter jets could lead to serious violations of international humanitarian law in Gaza.” The export of military goods must be prohibited under international agreements if such a risk exists.

NGOs Oxfam Novib, Pax Nederland, and The Rights Forum filed a complaint, arguing that exporting U.S.-owned F-35 parts stored at Woensdrecht air base makes the Netherlands complicit in war crimes in Gaza. A lower court initially rejected the complaint, but an appeal court ruled in February that the risk of serious violations of humanitarian law is undeniable. Although the advocate general’s opinion is not binding, it is often followed. The Supreme Court will decide soon.

I generally browse "new" a few times to find new and interesting content, but this also means I will encounter a bunch of things I'm not interested in or simply don't understand, i.e. a regional community from another country.

I can use the filter option to filter the instance, community or user, but if you navigate to the community you can also hit "block".

What's the difference between these two, functionally?

Dungeon Clawler is out! (store.steampowered.com)
submitted 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago) by [email protected] to c/[email protected]

Official description: Dungeon Clawler is a Roguelike Claw Machine Deckbuilder. Build your deck, grab weapons and items from the claw machine to battle enemies, discover powerful perks that create game-changing synergies and unleash crazy combos as you fight your way through the dungeon!

My take: I played the demo earlier this year and it was a blast. I'm really enjoying the "roguelite with a gameplay twist" fad at the moment with Ballionaire, Balatro, Solitairica, and now Dungeon Clawler.

The name of the game is absolutely not SEO-friendly, although it's a good name it's incredibly hard to find with search engines for some people. (Especially because Google likes to show you what Google thinks you are looking for, as opposed to what you are saying you're looking for)

At €/$ 8.99 (10% launch discount) this game is almost a steal. It's also on mobile for €/$ 4.99

I don't mind politics, but I do mind:

  • AI generated images
  • Porn
  • Anime models (all the "moe" stuff)
  • Something that combines above (like thirsty AI-generated anime models)
  • (RSS) bots that post links but there's never any discussion in the threads
  • Non-English content that I can’t read or local content that doesn't apply to me
  • Games I don't play (anymore) or will never play

Is there an easier way to curate content? Browsing "new" is like whack-a-mole.
