No one asked you to be. I humored your question. It's almost like you didn't really want an answer, you just wanted to be condescending.

Sounds like you've got some things to shove up your ass. Good luck in there.

That was a little bit tongue in cheek. Look at my username. But I'll humor the question.

I don't like to drink at home because I quickly go from being an affable drunk to a hardcore alcoholic. I like people watching. The noise of a bar can drown out my thoughts so I'm not living in my own head.

Why do you think you know what's best for anyone else? Instead of deciding people are weird for being different, maybe you could examine yourself and find out why you're a judgemental ass when there's no way you could have all the information on someone else's life.

Hell, I can't sit alone at the bar of a modest to moderately busy establishment without getting drug into a conversation. Obviously it depends on the bar and location, but it's a good way to meet people. Whether they're people worth meeting is a whole different conversation.

I prefer going to a bar to drink seriously without distraction, but the kind of bars I go to are apparently big on having everyone join in on the conversation.

I have an anecdote with some long-ish accompanying rambling nonsense that boils down to agreeing with you.

I've had Linux systems on and off for years. I think I started on Slackware (it's been too long to remember). I just installed EndeavourOS on a laptop with good compatibility the other day.

First, systemd-boot problems. Fine. Live USB, command line. Fixed. Then Bluetooth problems. Edit config file. Fixed. Wouldn't connect my third monitor. Another config file, apparently. Fixed. Wouldn't switch to my dGPU. Still not fixed, but at this point I have lost interest in fixing. So no gaming on Linux on that system because I can't be bothered.

I also loaded Windows because I prefer a fresh install to removing bloatware. Installed. That's it. It worked. Bluetooth, third monitor, GPU switching, the works.

Once it's running, assuming I don't run into the same problem you're running into, Linux is fairly bulletproof. But your average person has no interest in editing config files and playing around in the terminal. They want to buy a computer, maybe install a browser they're comfortable with, and get on the Internet to do whatever internety things they do. They don't need to spend time getting things just right because they live in a web browser and possibly Office (although that number is pretty small for home users).

People don't care. You're right, life is too short. I want to go to a concert, go sing karaoke, ride a motorcycle, build a cabinet, play a game, or go have a drink. Others may want to go watch sports, go hiking, go rock climbing, go to a wine tasting, or go out with coworkers. Grandpa wants to whittle on the back porch and maybe cook some ribs. College kids have school, parties, social clubs, and activities.

When Linux is someone's hobby, that's great! It means they like something and I'm all for people enjoying themselves. But I think a lot of those folks forget that most people just can't care about how they get to the Internet as long as they can get there. Because all a laptop is to most people is an Internet machine.

It would be like someone who is into woodworking as a hobby wondering why these Linux guys aren't building their own desks from scratch. They're sturdier and could last a lifetime if properly done. It's super easy to build too! Way easier than those wobbly things from Amazon and made of real wood.

That video was the pinnacle of art. We should have just given up on society after it was done because nothing that comes after could possibly be any better.

My MacBook Pro is 10 next year. It still does MacBook stuff last time I checked.

Arch doesn't need a marketing department. If someone uses Arch they'll tell you.

Yeah, I do. Right after I got done doing it for work the singer in our band booked us at Trees. So I spent all that time driving back and forth, then drove out on Saturday with a car full of equipment.

It's not like it was a big deal and that's such a fun venue. I had a great time. I just can't think of it without remembering that drive haha.

I hope you had a place to store your equipment there so you didn't have to load and unload everyday at least. Doing that every day would have been my nightmare.

I grew up in Podunk Northeast Texas so I have the drawl. But I left and spent a lot of time all up and down the eastern seaboard married to a woman that grew up out west. So my brain added every affectation I ran across to the drawl.

Now I have the long vowel sounds in a fairly rapid speech pattern, do the weird O sound they use in South Carolina, will occasionally pronounce house like I'm from Ontario, and have a hard time saying my first name if I don't concentrate.

I still sound mostly like a shoeless Texas hillbilly bootlegger but with a bunch of exceptions. So it makes me sound drunk as hell, until I am drunk. Then the exceptions leave and I sound like I just got off work at the oil rig and I'm headed to the strip club to cheat on my wife before heading back to the trailer.

Sounds like when I lived in Tyler and had to work in the DFW Metro for a job. I spent months driving back and forth. Luckily my travel was paid.

My favorite is Stop Having Fun, Guys. Broken Base hits too close to home for too many franchises I enjoy.
