I agree. They deserved one of two things in returned for giving up their nukes.
NATO membership.
Or a mutual defense treaty of the style seen in South Korea and Japan - i.e. Ukraine should come under the US nuclear umbrella.

Good on him for supporting the UN and calling this out.
The latter were jailed because of racism. The former are largely racists, and are jailed for a closely related reason (trying to prop up a racist regime beyond it's legally due end date).
Eh, well, I'm aware of some folks who got banned from .ml because their views didn't align well with the censors (or censor-admins) there. Meanwhile they're welcomed elsewhere on .world and fedia.io, suggesting that it's not a case of the individuals being bad apples.
It's actually quite disturbing that they are so bold now - it used to be in the 90s and early aughts at least that they were afraid to be upfront about it. Now they have no problems being openly racist, which feels like a throwback to the 50s or even earlier.
Exactly. I avoid lemmy.ml specifically because the admins there are the same ones who run the commonly defederated lemmygrad.ml - so the instance isn't particularly friendly.
Vote with your feet and move the community to a better instance, and hopefully some volunteer will message the old one detailing the move.
I mean at least they're promoting a replacement who can speak more coherently.
It might be harder to get to a ceasefire - but that's still the first step in putting a stop to what's happening. Without that, there are only two other choices: Israeli forces complete their war and take control over Gaza, or Hamas somehow wins over a nuclear power (Israel).
The latter two involve more innocents dying, hence my retaining preference for a ceasefire.
Yup. So happy to see she was rescued with only a few minor bumps and scratches in the end.
As would have been obvious to anyone who had been following the war and the skills of the Ukraine military for the past couple of years. An inevitable outcome, really.
