https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sealioning

Sealioning (also sea-lioning and sea lioning) is a type of trolling or harassment that consists of pursuing people with relentless requests for evidence, often tangential or previously addressed, while maintaining a pretense of civility and sincerity ("I'm just trying to have a debate"), and feigning ignorance of the subject matter.

The title says it all. Browsed Flathub and saw this fat warning label on the Steam Flatpak. Maybe not the best idea if you want to compete with Canoncial's Snapstore, but hey, what do I know ๐Ÿคท

Or simply choose a instance that defederates fascists and authoritarian loving dipsshits. Never had a problem here with far right or tankie content.

For now, it's Debian 12 with KDE Plasma. But I'm really interested in Immutable Systems. I like OpenSuse Kapla, but the KDE Integration is still in alpha. There are still a few shortcomings with the only flatpak approach, like the fact that the Steam Flatpak can't provide smooth wireless controller support because of lacking permissions.

  • It's preinstalled on their PC.
  • All their Hardware is guaranteed to work.
  • All their preferred Software is available and supported.
  • A small but very loud minority of the FOSS advocates are absolute insufferable and people associate this negative experiences with Linux.
  • There are thousands of Distros and it can be confusing.

Things have gotten way better on Desktop Linux but changing public perception takes a lot of time and effort.

Hey. Short story: I activated Secure boot on my MSI Mainboard and bootet in my new Debian. I realized that I had no wired internet connection and rebooted the system to deactivate secure boot again. Problem is that now my whole Ethernet is borked? I don't get a connection in Debian or my older OpenSuse partition and the Debian install USB stick says that the connection doesn't work. Of course I deinstallieren Windows and now this happens. Tried already a different cable . Any idea what I could do?

Hey Guys.

After a month of dual boot with OpenSuse, I think it's time to switch fully and use a Virtual Machine for Windows 10. I think I will settle for Debian 12 stable since I prefer Flatpaks for almost everything anyway. Tested it a little in virt manager and liked it better than Suse. But I'm not 100% sure about it. I have some questions:

  • I plan to buy a Nvidia card in the near future because I use my PC a lot for 3D art and AMD is simply not there when it comes to rendering time. So another AMD card is not a option for me. But I heard a lot of bad stuff about Nvidia and Wayland not going well together in older drivers. Is Debian 12 "new" enough for the better driver support or will it be a headache?

  • I have not much experience with virtual machines. Can I later move my Windows VM to another SSD?

  • I used the debian network installer in my test vm, is there a option to enable non-free stuff from the very beginning? Or are there better installation methods?

Thanks in advance ๐Ÿ™‚

What's the problem here? That's how I started with Linux.

Seriously, social media brand accounts are always a huge turn off regardless how hard they try to be relatable or "funny".

OS: OpenSuse Tumbleweed with KDE. Icon Theme: Reversal

I used the Latte Dock before but since it didn't play nice with Wayland and is basically unmaintained now, I simply transformed a KDE Panel into a Dock. I use a KWin Script called "Panel Auto Hide" to make the Dock disappear when window hits it.

Oh boy. Some survivors will need a lot of therapy after this.

Oh! That's where the lemmy.blahaj.zone instance gets its name from? The more you know ๐ŸŒ

This. I don't watch Discovery anymore because I couldn't stand a lot of the characters but it had absolute nothing to do with progressive views.

You mean that separatist regions that got installed by Russia and would already have lost without the Russian troops intervention in 2014 - 2015? That regions that have a government of brutal former criminals (that brutally oppressed every opposition)? Yes those too. If the people really want to be part of Russia, they can ask for a fair referendum with international observers after Russia fucked off.
