People do frequently consume videos on devices other than their phone, though. A desktop application is arguably just as important.

Titanium spoons are for casuals; true ultralight hikers use lithium spoons for maximum lightness (and a delicious spicy flavor!)
From their timeline it seems it'll be a year or two before it becomes available, but that's pretty cool nonetheless. I wonder how strong (and sensitive) of an antenna the satellites need to communicate with phones designed for much shorter range communication, and if it'll work with cloud cover.
Not if you reinvent it in a worse way.

.bashrc and .profile can be modified without root, as can autostarting .desktop files. I think systemd and anything in /etc require root though.
Also a lot of users set
sudoto not require a password (I am guilty of this) which makes privilege escalation easy.
