I have zero experience with soulseek but I'd connect it with https://github.com/qdm12/gluetun I also wouldn't route jellyfin (plex) through the vpn

Disrto theme bugs occur if the dev doesn't write the app theme agnostic enough. Nothing wrong with flatpak. Those "bugs" will disappear the more flatpak is used

Desktop environment should be separated from the OS. You should be able to change the de easily. Maybe in a container.

Present the user with common software when installing the os. Ask the user if she wants to install any of it (as a flatpak).

Ask for prioprietary codecs and install them if wanted.

Setting up *arr properly takes time. Joining multiple trackers isn't difficult, it's just not done within an hour but over time.
