At this point, if you're not double-checking something produced by your AI tool of choice, it absolutely is your fault. It's no secret that these applications were trained on garbage.

Ah, my mistake mixing them up. Thank you for the correction.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't it in the UN Charter that an attack on UN forces is an attack on the entire dang alliance?

There's plenty of evidence that social media is harmful to kids, teens, and adults. Several are referenced in this article: https://www.sciencenews.org/article/social-media-teens-mental-health

We also know that FB has used its platform to unknowingly run social experiments on users without their knowledge and helped the proliferation of misinformation to the tremendous detriment of our country and our people. With gen AI creating even more false information, it's imperative that governments crack down.

Social Media can and should be regulated just like any other objectionable form of speech.

Totally.

I was very impressed by Democrats' reaction when the Roe repeal was leaked.

They used it to raise money.

That alone is indicative of the fact that they're unsuited to govern.

Well, thank you for your perspective.

Have a nice weekend.

I honestly think you and I are on pretty close to the same page as far as American politics are concerned

I really think we're not.

But thanks for the discussion.

What's amazing is seeing a president who isn't content to make excuses.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 3 weeks ago

Nothing I say is going to change your mind, and that's okay. Thank you for the discussion.

He also dispelled the myth that one needs 60 votes to pass legislation, and yet, I still have to hear Democratic supporters make that excuse for why they never fulfill their promises.

And Harris will stand by and make excuses when the same things happen under her watch. We know this because that's what Biden and Obama have done.

So what's the point?

I don't know how much failure it'll take before Democratic voters start to realize they should make different choices if they actually want change.

When you elect an opposition party that doesn't actually oppose anything, every issue that concerns you is in jeopardy, yes. Further, I wouldn't trust someone who built their career on locking up nonviolent drug users en masse to care much what happens to you or your family.

They certainly don't care about mine. My eighty-year old parents are driving for DoorDash, in a car I lent them, and that's the only thing separating them from homelessness and starvation.

A 25-year-old woman with type 1 diabetes started producing her own insulin less than three months after receiving a transplant of reprogrammed stem cells1. She is the first person with the disease to be treated using cells that were extracted from her own body.

“I can eat sugar now,” said the woman, who lives in Tianjing, on a call with Nature. It has been more than a year since the transplant, and, she says, “I enjoy eating everything — especially hotpot.” The woman asked to remain anonymous to protect her privacy.

James Shapiro, a transplant surgeon and researcher at the University of Alberta in Edmonton, Canada, says the results of the surgery are stunning. “They’ve completely reversed diabetes in the patient, who was requiring substantial amounts of insulin beforehand.”

The FBI conducted searches at the homes of two of New York City Mayor Eric Adams' closest aides on Thursday, sources familiar with the investigation told ABC News.

The Hamilton Heights home of First Deputy Mayor Sheena Wright, who is engaged to Schools Chancellor David Banks, and the Hollis, Queens, home of Deputy Mayor for Public Safety Phil Banks, were searched as part of an ongoing investigation, the sources said.

I hope this means Adams is next.

The article states that these horrendous, disgusting infractions of health regulations have been documented out for at least the previous year, but given their severity, I’d imagine it’s always been this way at Boar’s Head production facilities. (Seemingly without any meaningful accountability from regulators.)

I’m going to cook my deli meats from now on, no matter where they come from.

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — The latest search for the remains of 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre victims has ended with three more sets containing gunshot wounds, investigators said.

The three are among 11 sets of remains exhumed during the latest excavation in Oaklawn Cemetery, state archaeologist Kary Stackelbeck said Friday.

“Two of those gunshot victims display evidence of munitions from two different weapons,” Stackelbeck said. “The third individual who is a gunshot victim also displays evidence of burning.”

Stories like this underscore the importance of reading history, because (at least here in Missouri) I was never taught about the Tulsa Massacre and didn't learn about it until I read about it myself.

Other things you may want to read about that you may have never heard of: The Battle of Blair Mountain, Haymarket Square, or the Great Rail Strike of 1877.

DEIR AL-BALAH, Gaza Strip (AP) — The Israeli military ordered more evacuations in southern Gaza early Sunday after a deadly airstrike on a school-turned-shelter in the north killed at least 80 Palestinians, according to local health authorities. Israel said it targeted a militant command post, killing 19 fighters.

If you stick someone in a canoe in the middle of the ocean, you've still committed murder when they drown. These so-called evacuation orders don't change the fact that Israel is committing genocide and running an apartheid state, with the help and backing of war criminals in the US government.

PARIS (AP) — French police have evacuated the area around the Eiffel Tower after a man was seen climbing the Paris landmark hours before the Olympics closing ceremony Sunday.

The shirtless man was seen scaling the 330-meter (1,083-foot) tall tower in the afternoon. It’s unclear where he began his ascent, but he was spotted just above the Olympic rings adorning the second section of the monument, just above the first viewing deck.

Kind of a dumb thing to do, but I hope he makes it and I admire his moxie.

Is there a good reason why journalists keep calling this "far-right disorder" instead of what it really is: Fascist Terrorism?

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Supreme Court on Monday shut down a long-shot push from Missouri to remove a gag order in former President Donald Trump’s hush-money case and delay his sentencing in New York.

The Missouri attorney general went to the high court with the unusual request to sue New York after the justices granted Trump broad immunity from prosecution in a separate case filed in Washington.

The order states that Justices Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito would have allowed Republican Andrew Bailey to file the suit, though not grant his push to quickly lift the gag order and delay sentencing.

US stocks plunged on Monday morning as Friday’s dismal July jobs report continued stoking fears that the US economy is on shaky legs.

The Dow plunged 1,072 points, or 2.7%. The S&P 500 fell 4.1% and the Nasdaq Composite sank by a whopping 6.3%.

The Cboe Volatility Index, or VIX, which measures bets on expected stock market volatility, surged to 55. The last time the fear gauge hit that level outside of the pandemic was the Great Financial Crisis, in 2008.

On September 11, 2001, Genelle Guzman-McMillan made it from the 64th floor to the 13th floor of the North Tower when "everything went black." Over 27 hours later, she was miraculously pulled out of the wreckage.

Though I hate the overuse of the word 'miraculous', this is an interesting story for sure.

In a groundbreaking experiment, Japanese researchers transferred regenerative genes to fruit flies, leading to improved intestinal health and enhanced stem cell activity. This discovery opens new possibilities for anti-aging strategies in higher organisms, including humans, through targeted gene therapy.
