Try Cider, it’s a FOSS and it works on any platform including Linux. There are others, but they are mostly just wrappers around the web app, and Cider is not.

lol I won’t disagree with you here. And I’m not saying Apple Music has a good interface. Just that it’s no worse than Spotify or Amazon.
I’ve never used YouTube music, so I can’t say, but if it’s anything like YouTube, I’m sure I’d hate it too.
That seems insane to me. Obviously using a parent account makes sense. I wonder if it’s just insanely difficult to find? I know I can change family settings on the website, but have no idea about parental controls. It seems like it’d be illegal to require a second device to set up the first device, no?
I can’t speak to parental controls, as I’ve not ever and hopefully will never set them up. That could be a completely valid point. I don’t know, and I wasn’t talking about that.
What I want to know is whether you’ve used Apple Music to come to the conclusion that it is craptacular and deeply annoying.
I’m not saying Apple doesn’t have some shitty services. I just think Apple Music isn’t one of them, and I’d like to know how you arrived to that conclusion.
Can you give me an example of where Apple requires you to have one of their devices to set up a different device? As far as I am aware this isn’t the case, and I believe that is actually illegal in the us.
“Ive never used this service. I don’t intend to use this service. Having never tried, I will assert that this service is hard to use. The web interface is basically the same as popular competitor Spotify, but I have decided this company in particular is the worst. All of the companies that demand my loyalty suck, but this one sucks more because I don’t use it. Google and android are great because Apple sucks.”
They all suck. Companies are inherently greedy and selfish. But don’t confidently say something untrue because you don’t like the company that makes something. If your only input is based on biased hate, maybe just let that one go. Give input on things you have experience with and enjoy. Idk why you think Apple Music is so hard and deeply annoying. The website works fine and seems pretty basic as shit to me.
I’ve been pretty nice in this exchange. Your hostility is unnecessary. The fact is, you misread this entire thread. Everyone else understands the joke. The fact that you should be able to see that everyone else understands the joke, and yet have decided to come at me with your arms outstretched in insult should imply something to you.
It wasn’t supposed to be a hilarious joke. It was a tongue in cheek reference to the entire point of where your comment thread came from. You misinterpreted something, and a joke was made. I played off that joke. You continued to misinterpret. Maybe take a minute for introspection and think about why you felt the need to talk shit immediately instead of trying to reason things out from someone else’s point of view.
And I only used two paragraphs to explain to you a joke that was pretty self explanatory in my mind. So idk where the three came from. Again, your insults and snark are unnecessary and unappreciated.
I thought it was pretty funny. 🤷 It seems @[email protected] did as well. I was trying to keep within the context of the general thread where everyone is joking about mint being one thing or another. When the commenter before me said you should diversify, and you asked for suggestions, I thought it’d be an opportunity to suggest something else from the original thread.
The thread is about Mint, the finance app owned by intuit. I found it an amazing callback, but they can’t all be winners!
I love talking to my mother. I talk to her almost every day. She’s the best. I don’t like spending my time sitting there going over pictures to free up space on her phone because she couldn’t take pictures at my nephews basketball game because her phone is full. If I can pay a little bit of money to save mine and her time, would that not be better for both of us? I get my time, she doesn’t miss out on pictures. What I’m saying is if I can afford something to make my life easier, that doesn’t make me stupid.
Also you will notice that in my first comment I said “ I value the ease of use for my mother more than the cost of a subscription”. I don’t see how that implies I don’t like talking to my mother, but I’m sorry you interpreted it that way. I think the snark was unnecessary, but that’s okay. I also see that you didn’t address my actual point. Did you have something relevant to add to the discussion, or is your purpose to insult people?
Why do people resort to insults when other people prioritize things differently? This always baffles me, and I’ve been seeing it a lot on Lemmy lately.
I don’t have a NAS. I don’t want a NAS. I have no need for a NAS. I have iCloud purely for my mother, and my time is way more valuable than the cost of iCloud. I also don’t want to deal with troubleshooting if something goes wrong. I fight enough fires at work when a release goes sour.
I’m not stupid because I value my time more than the cost of a subscription. I value the ease of use for my mother more than the cost of a subscription. I understand your values don’t align with mine. That’s okay! You’re not stupid for that. And I’m not stupid for my choices.
Try to see the human and realize that we all have individual lives, goals, and priorities. Insulting people for being different than you is something we should be moving away from, not continuing.
I have Apple one. I will not be cancelling. I consider it an amazing value. I don’t need the iCloud but my mother takes way too many pictures of the kids. She gets value out of that. We all get Apple TV. I use Apple Music every day I’m at work.
Why do you get to choose what is fair value and I don’t? If the consumer gets to choose, than that means the average of all potential (because there is a large subset of consumers who will never use Apple products) customers’ willingness to pay the price must be taken into account.
I understand that it’s not a fair value to you. But it certainly is to me. Even just the hour a month I save not walking through with my mother determining which pictures to delete is worth it alone. In addition to time, I get services I use and value. I consider it a deal tbh.
My sister, my mother, and my brother all have laptop-exclusive households. Most people these days don’t see a need for a standalone pc when they have a laptop they can take from room to room and costs the same as a desktop.
