Kia and Hyundai are the most stolen cars in North America due to missing basic security measures like steering wheel locks and the ability to spoof the key fob with a cell phone. You could also take a Hyundai or Kia that is near it's fob and just drive off in it. There was no proximity shut off until a recent OTA update, and it didn't work on every model

They're cheap in NA and they're likely to stay that way until they add proper security measures. In response, both State Farm and Allstate have raised insurance rates on Hyundai and Kia made after 2015. They're cheaper because they cut corners, and the end customer foots the bill on the insurance side

The oldest Mayan ruins are from 1000-800BC That's what..~3000 years? Not bad.. Will this glass be as resistant to the elements as carved rocks?

Wait how do you download stuff without torrenting?

[–] [email protected] 0 points 11 months ago

I have them all downloaded. 25 years of old hard drives and nerdy piracy have me well stocked for the apocalypse

Yes, and if you teach this to your friends and children, the big companies will eventually adapt to what the market is offering vs trying to dictate the market

I paid full price for both Factorio and Skyrim because they are full games that I get to own. No micro transactions, and modding is almost encouraged through Steam. I will never buy another microtransaction game. I will never buy another "subscription based" platform like Xbox. I'm so fucking over not owning the thing I bought

So what’s the new solution in place of DRM to make sure that the things you make aren’t ripped off by China or any other rich competitor?

This you?

How does forcing a company like Apple or John Deere to allow their customers to repair their own products lead you to think China isn't already ripping off every bit of tech they come across?

It takes 6 years on a fast paced build. If we had started when we knew of the problem, we could have avoided some of the problem. It is the only energy source we can scale up in that way, however. Every other energy source takes longer for less yield with current technology.

My city doesn't allow big trucks on our roads. The wear and tear of roads is heavily dependent on weight, as you and I both stated. Weighing 3500lbs more (the weight of a Toyota Camry) than even the largest personal vehicle is a problem which I hope they solve soon.

I'm not sure why people think it's propaganda that EVs weigh 1.5x or more than a standard sedan. It's a fact, and it's easy to find information. The tech crowd wants to call anything that hurts their opinion bullshit, but they refuse to look it up. It's right there on the manufacturers' websites. I sincerely doubt the owners of Rivian or Tesla are in on some government "propaganda" to lower their own sales.

I appreciate the votes. That proves you read the comment but have no idea how to respond, because you can't.
