Investigate donations to those MO House members voting for this bullshit. Smells like Bayer Bribes, since this doesn't benefit the citizens of MO at all.

[–] [email protected] 55 points 6 months ago (2 children)

Good idea.

Blaine Luetkemeyer, Ann Wagner, Emanuel Cleaver, Eric Burlison, and Jason Smith all took $100K+ from insurance corporations for their campaigns.

All republicans. Guess this is what owning the libs looks like.

[–] [email protected] 19 points 6 months ago (1 children)

There are no words how much I specifically hate Ann Wagner and Jason Smith. Two of the biggest shit stains in this state.

Try reading Blaine's FB page and then imagine the only way to be rid of him was his retirement, and knowing he'll likely be replaced with the same or worse.

Can't wait to get my family back out of this shithole state. KC, StL, Columbia, and Springfield are ok but the rest of the state are loud and proud white trash MAGATS steadily voting to fuck over the population centers where all the atate funds come from.

This state is so bad the only way we see progress is with ballot initiatives where gerrymanderign can't defeat the popular vote. And guess what the MO house and senate are working on right now. Yep, making ballot initiatives harder to pass.

Saint Louis has been held back as a city for decades because StL city is in StL county and is prone to the state legislature's fuckery. Like when StL raised the minimum wage for the city. State blocked it because...they could.

The governmental structure of the City of St. Louis is unusual in the United States. Since 1876, St. Louis has been an independent city, meaning it is not part of any county. St. Louis operates as both a city and a county. St. Louis is the only city in Missouri which operates its own "county" offices. St. Louis is a home rule city, but it is not a home rule county, thus county functions and offices are subject to state restrictions on county governments.

I'm trying to get out, but it'll likely be a while. Thankfully I apparently give off hick vibes, so I'm not personally treated too bad, but the majority of my friends are.

And they wonder why young people are leaving in droves.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 6 months ago

they wonder why young people are leaving in droves.

Probably because they belong in a venn diagram with estranged parents that don't know why their kids have gone no contact.

How many took under $100k? It never ceases to amaze me how cheap government is to buy. Imagine how cheap it seems to the 1%.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 6 months ago

I think the NRA got Ted Cruz for @ $25,000. At least what is publicly available. I’ve seen as low as $10,000 in campaign donations. Like, that’s not even a new car, to betray humanity.

They employ a lot of people in the St. Louis area. They bring a lot of high paying jobs to the area and the government likes that.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 6 months ago (1 children)

Not sure why you are being down-voted. It doesn't have to be bribes that causes a person to vote some way. Just bringing a shitload of jobs to an area would cause a politician to vote a certain way. Because jobs makes voters happy, and happy voters would vote for that person again, so they stay in power.

It's the internet, I did a wrong think. People can't make corporate America the evil villain if you find a silver lining and it helps someone.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 6 months ago* (last edited 6 months ago)

I got a job for all those people and more.

Building free public housing. And keep doing it until being a landlord isn't a "job".

[–] [email protected] 1 points 6 months ago (1 children)

heard it here first, boys! Causing cancer is now legitimate business practice, just gotta pay the right(wink) people

[–] [email protected] 2 points 6 months ago* (last edited 6 months ago)

Laughs in asbestos and tobacco... Probably alcohol but they won't release that study yet.

Monsanto spent decades knowingly murdering customers, spent millions hiding their murders, and to this day they won't even accept responsibility for their murder spree - let alone show remorse.

People have suffered the agony of botched executions for far less than that. There are determined committers of genocide with lower body-counts than monsanto executives.

[–] [email protected] 22 points 6 months ago

You forgot the millions spent ~~bribing~~ lobbying elected officials to protect themselves

[–] [email protected] 55 points 6 months ago (1 children)

Remember folks, if you went around giving people cancer they'll put you in jail. A corporation does it and at most a fine.

[–] [email protected] 9 points 6 months ago (1 children)

Just form an LLC first and you should be fine then right?

[–] [email protected] 2 points 6 months ago* (last edited 6 months ago)
[–] [email protected] 26 points 6 months ago

Thank God someone is finally looking out for the corporations!

Deny justice long enough, and people will get their own brand of justice in the worst way possible.

This is not advocating for violence against the people involved in the creation of this product, despite them murdering us through the economic system.

Just stating a fact of life.

[–] [email protected] 9 points 6 months ago (2 children)

How far off do you think we are from the people seeking their own justice? (Asking for a friend)

Imo, companies being concerned about class actions if everyone had access to Healthcare, is THE REASON we do not have Healthcare for all in this country. Imagine how many more Flint, MI, there are, but no one knows because none of them can afford to see a doctor.

[–] [email protected] 17 points 6 months ago (2 children)

I think it's because making healthcare impossible to get without employment makes it harder for people to leave jobs.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 6 months ago

Meh, both of these can be true simultaneously

[–] [email protected] 24 points 6 months ago (1 children)

Bayer made its bed when they bought Monsanto, fuck em

[–] [email protected] 6 points 6 months ago

Bayer was also an equally immoral company before it bought Monsanto. What the buyout did was open opportunities for groups seeking legal action against Monsanto.

The USA south elects leaders who attack their constituents in every way. Missouri is technically midwest, but it's also southern in spirit.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 6 months ago

As a resident I would like to refute this claim.

I can't. But I would like to.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 6 months ago

Protecting LIFE ENDING CANCER is called being PRO LIFE

[–] [email protected] 4 points 6 months ago (1 children)

If I wanted to file a lawsuit for Roundup giving me cancer, I dont have to file in Missouri. I can file in my home state where I got cancer from their product. Missouri's laws don't apply here.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 6 months ago (1 children)

That's great and all, but there are people living in Missouri too.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 6 months ago

Dozens of us

[–] [email protected] 4 points 6 months ago (1 children)

Just for context, Monsanto is a Missouri native.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 6 months ago

The hilarity is that if you want a broad spectrum weedkiller for lawns you can just mix white vinegar and a cup of salt in a spray bottle (optionally add some dish detergent for adhesion). That shit will kill broadleaf weeds, grass, clover, you name it. And it won't poison your dogs or give you cancer.
