Premieres January 2024. They also released a new PV here. Synopsis from AniList:

Rishe Irmgard Weitzner, a duke's daughter, has a secret: she died at the age of 20 and returned to the moment five years prior when her engagement was called off. She has already experienced this time loop six times and lived out those five years a different way each time, as a merchant, a doctor, a maid, a knight, and more. Now, on her seventh go-around, she's determined to live to a ripe old age and spend it relaxing. But the moment she flees the castle with that decision in her heart, she runs into the infamously cruel crown prince of a rival kingdom, Arnold Hein. He happens to be the one who killed her during her life as a knight, but now, he seems to have taken a bizarre liking to her... and begs her to become his wife. Thus, in order to stay alive and prevent a war, Rishe utilizes her previous experiences to kick off her seventh life as the bride of an enemy nation's crown prince.

If you couldn't guess from the enormous title, this is being adapted from a light novel. The name is just as long in Japanese as well: "Loop 7-kaime no Akuyaku Reijou wa, Moto Tekikoku de Jiyuu Kimamana Hanayome Seikatsu wo Mankitsu Suru". The only short form of this title that I found is the official hashtag of #ルプなな (rupunana, or loop seven). I really wish that these light novel adaptations would also adapt the title to be a bit shorter and easier to remember or fit into article titles.

Is this a newer trend to go for longer, overly specific titles? I never saw them before until after coming to Lemmy, but now I see them all the time. It’s probably one of the more annoying things I’ve seen in awhile.

Long, specific titles have always been somewhat of a thing. For example, did you know that the novel we typically refer to as Robinson Crusoe, published in 1719, was originally titled thusly:

"The Life and Strange Surprizing Adventures of Robinson Crusoe, of York, Mariner: Who lived Eight and Twenty Years, all alone in an un-inhabited Island on the Coast of America, near the Mouth of the Great River of Oroonoque; Having been cast on Shore by Shipwreck, wherein all the Men perished but himself. With An Account how he was at last as strangely deliver'd by Pyrates. Written by Himself."

In modern light novels, the long titles come from the ease with which amateur writers can self publish to a website like syosetu. This causes tons and tons of stories within the same genre or content tags to be listed alongside each other. So, having a long, specific title helps your writing stand out by acting as a quick synopsis rather than having a website visitor click through and read the synopsis of hundreds of search results.

A lot of our modern light novels were originally self published as webnovels to these sites and have therefore inherited the long titles that helped them stand out on those sites. I just wish that the titles would be adapted and shortened as well as they transition from webnovel -> light novel -> manga -> anime. Some of them just keep the long title but pick up shorter nicknames since the Japanese language is so prone to portmanteaus (konosuba, danmachi, arifureta, etc.).

That was more in depth information about light novel titles than I ever thought I'd ever read and I've enjoyed it so much that I'm gonna commit it to memory and it'll be the weird random tibbit I bring up years later
