I'm not aware of any career fields where you need a LinkedIn account.

much thanks to @gary_host_laptop for the logo design :)
I just saw a post in my feed yesterday where some HR cancer (probably a connection’s connection) posted the most nauseating image about how everyone should use linkedin (which is mandatory anyway). Then she jerked herself on the achievement that save a few bottom feeders every employee is using linkedin after her campaign.
I've never had a job where Linked In was useful beyond the company asking me to repost their junk. It's mostly a place for upper management and executives to brag and feel special. Otherwise, it's just marketing materials and spam from headhunters for short term contract jobs mostly and whose bots don't really understand your experience and so the job hunting stuff isn't even useful. I work in healthcare related tech.
I'm in tech. LinkedIn has only done damage when it comes to finding a job. It brings a lot of noise into the process. Will never use it again.
I have never used Linked In for getting a job. I am an RN. I will apply at the company/hospital websites... basically whistle and they call me.
Well, unlike most of the comments on here LinkedIn has been useful to me, albeit rarely. My last three jobs were all found on there, and I have had recruiters reach out to me through LinkedIn that otherwise would not have. For what it’s worth, I work in operations in the healthcare sector. Hmm
If you’re not looking for a job it’s an absolute wasteland. I despise the site and all of its content. However, when you need a job there’s no reason to limit yourself, in my opinion.
Manual labor.
