Nah but honestly.. I mostly just catch up on hobbies like drawing and video games over the weekend :3

What kind of things do you draw?

[–] [email protected] 8 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Mostly furry art tbh :3.. a lot of which is just inside jokes to send to friends, or something I was asked to draw

Most of my time not at the office is childcare, but I try to get us out of the house and doing something fun. At the very least we'll take a walk through town and get any groceries we need and visit their uncle at his shop. Preferable to go to the park or beach but that's not always possible.

Mine is to get any out the house errands done first thing. Afterwards exercise, have lunch and typically watch telly while I crash out. Then I have dinner and read a book.

Coffee and treats at local bakery/cafe. Road trip to some obscure shop. Movies/games with spouse. Intoxication. Bath. House cleaning. Yard work. Occasionally go for massage. Therapy.

Usually do three to five of these, depending on which of my days off it is.

A typical Saturday:

  • Wake up later than usual (08:00-09:30 instead of my regular 07:00)
  • Make breakfast, coffee and oats
  • Enjoy breakfast while watching something interesting or listening to a podcast
  • Take my bike down to the store to do the primary shopping for the coming week
  • Have lunch with my partner
  • If the weather permits, go for a longer bike ride, or a run in the park
  • If not, do an indoor bike session
  • Relax for the rest of the day, maybe play some video game or watch a movie

I am busier. Usually doing errands. On a good day off I am home but still doing housework. I usually spend time with my wife and make art.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Yep that's the thing you've always got so much to do errand wise! What art do you do?

Depends. I have a software engineer job (fulltime) and a small family farm I started last year. This time of year, as long as the weather holds, I'm outside doing something most days and weekends, so I don't really have days off. When the weather's bad, it's usually vehicle/tractor/home maintenance stuff or food preservation. Assuming all things are done, wife and I might go into the city for an evening, stay at a hotel, and come back the next day. Sometimes, it's just a lot of sleeping. The rest, I try to sneak in A Link to the Past Randomizer runs when I have some time.

I'm self-employed. As such the idea of day on/off work can get really messy for me; some days I work a single hour and then drink booze, some days I work 16h straight. It depends on work availability + my mood.

Days when I don't work at all typically involve cooking, taking care of my pets, napping, watching anime, reading some random junk.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 month ago (1 children)

What do you do for self-employment? I've always thought that being self employed would be awesome.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 month ago

Translation; mostly between Portuguese, Italian, English.

Self-employment is a bit of a mixed blessing. It requires some discipline handling time and money, as well as flexibility - dealing with the fact that some months you'll get barely any income, and in others you'll feel overworked as fuck. You won't deal with a shitty boss, but with a plethora of shitty clients (and some really great ones).

I bought a "fixer-upper" recently, so I fill most days off with minor home repair projects. I'm using it as an excuse to build a decent little project workbench, though.

Are you good at DIY stuff? I have zero DIY skills so I'm impressed

Wake up around 6 and start the day with a few hours of FFXI, since I'm only able to play on weekends.

Once the dog wakes up we go for a walk and have playtime, feed him and the cats. Then household cleaning and other chores.

It's around noon by then, and plans can differ. Grab lunch, hit the library, go fishing, shopping, whatever. On Sundays I meal prep for the week. If the weather is crappy I might do some more gaming or watch a movie.

Hit an AA meeting then have dinner. Walk the dog again after dinner.

Usually end the day with an hour of reading or journaling.

What have you read recently

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

In the past month I've read The Fault In Our Stars, and Thinking in Pictures. I gave up on The Book of God. I'm working on the AA big book, and the new Hunger Games prequel. Every now and then I'll pick up Buckland's Blue Book.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Mostly trying to aquire income.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Did you also read "off" as "of", like I did, or does a day off work just involve other work for you?

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 month ago

My current occupation is not satisfying my financial needs.

A typical weekend involves golf, grilling, and a few cocktails. If the weather is nice (which it almost always is) maybe we head down to the beach, or a pub with outdoor seating.
