Summary

Seven Republican senators, including Mitch McConnell and Chuck Grassley, have co-sponsored the bipartisan Trade Review Act, which would revoke presidential tariffs after 60 days without congressional approval.

The bill challenges Trump’s sweeping tariff authority, exercised under his recent "Liberation Day" policy.

Though facing a likely veto and limited legislative prospects, the effort signals GOP divisions over Trump’s trade agenda.

Supporters argue Congress must reclaim its constitutional power over trade, reversing decades of authority ceded to the executive branch. A House version is expected from Rep. Don Bacon.

The president has no tariff power.

Fuck the press.

The Constitution doesn't stutter here.

Article 1 section 8. Fucking read it.

The Congress shall have Power To lay and collect Taxes, Duties, Imposts and Excises, to pay the Debts and provide for the common Defence and general Welfare of the United States; but all Duties, Imposts and Excises shall be uniform throughout the United States

And

[grants Congress the] "power to regulate commerce with foreign nations."

The GOP is at will to end this. They need no approval beyond themselves.

It has been granted, but could be revoked.

You are correct. Your downvotes be damned.

Congress has graciously allowed this privilege to the presidency.

It is not written law though.

Hopefully not too late. But yet, they certainly enabled all the horrors that Trump is visiting on the world.

I won’t complain, but every one of these corrupt individuals shares responsibility for the current state of affairs (McConnell most of all for pushing so hard to ram Citizens United down our throats). May they be successful in passing this act, but may they all rot in hell afterwards.
