"the very lonely one" or "the one set apart" in Hawaiian language).
It has further been suggested by Toriyama that "Kamehameha" in Japanese directly translates to "turtle energy wave", which inspired Master Roshi leading the "turtle hermit school" where he teaches students the "kamehameha" technique.
