We have no kings. We will dethrone any self appointmented king

No, you will dutifully go to your serf work tomorrow.

I hate these other replies that have already given up. Not helpful.

Snark isn't the same as capitulation; arguably, the opposite.

Mmph. She does good sometimes, like here. Still pretty bummed about the right to repair law for NY being modified last second to allow the sale of "completed assemblies".

I don't. She's the one who delayed the implementation of congestion pricing because she was scared that the Democrats would lose some suburban votes. Were it not for her betrayal, congestion pricing would have been live for 6 more months, and probably built some more resilience against this attack.

To add insult to injury, she cut the prices significantly, gutting the potential revenue the MTA could have gotten, for not that much benefit for the drivers who still choose to drive in.

So in a democracy, presidents are elected, and when their time is up, they peacefully move on with their lives.

Do you know how kings are deposed? Because usually it's not pretty.

Yeah this is what the Republicans failed to understand is that elections are there to convince the losers to step aside.... without a bloody civil war. All of Trump's election denialism basically ensures bloodshed. 😔

Contrary to the lies in the tweet, congestion pricing is not dead. From this article, for example:

There was no precedent for federal officials to revoke approval for a major transportation project in New York, especially one that was working, said Michael Gerrard, a Columbia Law School professor who supports congestion pricing. He said he did not believe the federal government had the legal authority to halt the tolling program.

“It is certainly not dead by any means,” he said. “Secretary Duffy has issued an order of questionable legality.”

[–] [email protected] 17 points 1 day ago

Trump has expressed an intention to revoke that is represented in the Transportation secretary's letter saying he would "discuss the orderly cessation of toll operations", though yes, it's still in effect, and the MTA is challenging the pending revocation with a very strong case

This is what I came here for. Like states rights let alone this a metro law, he has no standing rights to even think about this. I dont even think that the money is going to the feds in any way, so this is just outright overreach. Are the tolls still being collected or did they stop at the booths even tho the law still stands?

"Short live the troll" is what it should say

[–] [email protected] 14 points 1 day ago

He’s just going to bring it back rebranded and collect all the congestion penalties for himself.

Trump Anti-Congestion Bill

This can't be fucking real.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 17 hours ago

He’s said worse. He wants to ban seatbelts.

Wait is this a legit whitehouse account or just some cuck trying to be funny? I know the quote is real, not sure about the account

[–] [email protected] 4 points 20 hours ago* (last edited 20 hours ago)

Legit white house account. Unbelievable I know

Edit: the tweet is still up on the White House Twitter account @whitehouse as of 11:15am Eastern time on Feb 20th, 2025

[–] [email protected] 9 points 1 day ago

I did fact checking online and it looks like it's the legit White House account. Fucking unbelievable.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 day ago

Fuck the royalists.

What an absurdly small crown for his head. If you are going to AI yourself as a king, at least fool around with the prompt until you get a crown that's the right size.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

Agreed, 100%. Capture the scale of his sense of self-worth with it, it would be a chef's kiss. The tiniest king's crown should look comically oversized.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 day ago

A small finger and a tiny crowned vulgarian.
